3D carbon fiber vinyl

I stumbled upon some carbon fiber vinyl on Ebay. Im sure most of you have seen stuff like it, but this stuff looks pretty realistic. The guy offers samples of all of his carbon fiber vinyl for $1.89 and free shipping. The 3d vinyl seems like it will look very nice (also the most expensive) Found here

This is a pic off the listing:

The price ain't so bad for 6ft imo, but I'm gonna wait till i get the samples.

Anyways this is a pic of where I want to put the vinyl if I like the sample:

Not so sure about the windscreen because I want to put the vinyl on the inside of the windscreen, so idk if the adhesive side would have the carbon fiber pattern on it, if it doesn't then I won't do it on the windscreen. Also is the front fender easy to remove? Also it says that it can be molded to objects with a heat gun, could a hair dryer be used instead, or would it not have enough heat?

Any suggestions/comments and or ideas are welcome.

Also anyone who has dealt with vinyl, are there any install tips you can offer?

i think there were only 3 bolts per side. one on the top of the fender, and two on the side.... one of those being hidden behind the reflector.

then the fender should be able to be removed by sliding it foward.

Thanks for posting this! I just bought a sample for myself. I am also thinking about doing the black side panels and hopefully the front fender if it is easy to do. :P

Hehe cool, I'll probably report back on how the samples are and hopefully a few pics. Yea the front fender seems like it will be hard to do since it has those 2 points up top. It may have to be done with separate pieces, but that might not have a finished look.

If that vinyl is the same stuff I bought then it's very hard to apply because it doesn't stretch at all. Unlike other vinyl this stuff is kinda like foil with the carbon fibre pattern stamped into it. This is what gives it its 3D appearance.

It looks great, but unless you have a nice, flat surface to apply it to, you're gonna have a hard time applying it in one piece without wrinkles. Those side in-fill panels and the front mudguard were a definite no-go for me. I ended up using mine for a custom tank protector and for that purpose it worked well.

Just a heads up. If you have more success than I did I'd love to read about it!

I have the same stuff at work, and I thought about putting some around the top forks, just to give that "look".

that looks very nice, how well do you think that material would mold onto the plastic side panels?

I used the 3m dinoc on my Porsche and on my explorer and it turned out great. I did also some on my 250 but just on the koso gauge bezel and it looks very nice.
Bought about 8 feet with of this material and only use half of it. Planning on doing some more to the bike during the winter.

It's very easy to work with, specially if you use a heat gun.

Wow very, very, very nice looking bike Alex. I love the CF look.

Very noob question, how does it work? It just sticks on? And if so, how does it hold up to water/rain, a lot of heat, and what not?

sorry my bad english, in aplication, you need clean the area with isopropilic alcahool, you need to heat with hair heater or other tool, then Dinoc is fixed like glue (resin to melt in other side) this dinoc carbon fiber resist heat , resist water, chemical resistent, , see in 3m site specs.

Precisely especially since he isnt even selling the same stuff. I could see if he stole photos of a product he was selling but he is outright fake. Can't believe his feedback is so high. Depending on how much of the 3m doc you want I still have a good amount of it left. The REAL 3M doc

Did any of you guys clear coat the panels after stickering them up to get the wet carbon look.

I've got a carbon muffler, carbon clutch cover, carbon rear brake reservoir cover and carbon fender eliminator on mine and the stickers look out of place so I peeled them off

Nice carbon work. BTW, what clip-ons are those and any rubbing our clearance issues since you can't adjust the angle?

Has anyone wrapped the dash piece that looks like fake intake tubes? Not sure what the official part name is. The curves and creases are pretty intricate, but it would look awesome in CF.
