New car!

For a while, you all have heard me talk about getting one of the new Ford Fiesta's. I still want one really bad. I have been thinking of a new GTI, Subaru WRX or maybe even an Audi A3. I've always wanted something with a turbocharger. However, a great deal popped up recently. When my father-in-law passed away, my wife and her mom called the place that provided him his company car asking if it could be purchased. He drove a 2009 Subaru Forester. She wanted that car because it is a slightly bigger vehicle, newer, only 27k on it and it belonged to him.

Well we talked with the company and they said she could purchase it. For a heck of a deal too, less than you could ever find one with that year/mileage. So since she found out she could purchase it, she didn't need her old car anymore.

My wife said we would purchase the older ride. I have been complaining about my car being so loud. Around town, 45-mph or lower, no big deal, highway use, very loud. So this is what we got from her:

An '07 Chevy Impala for $5k! A nice deal...it only has 65k on the clock too. Dual climate control, cloth interior (what I wanted), automatic, and gets better gas mileage than the Mustang. It is in a great condition, never had an issue with the car, never been in an accident, immaculate interior, and has received every service it has ever needed. Plus it is a sedan (which is nice) and has a bigger trunk. I am not a Chevy fan, and I'm not a luxury car fan, but this was a good deal and it would be great for long trips. The mustang will sit in the stable for weekend drives.

We shall see if it continues to be a good purchasing decision.

I told her since she made the decision on this one, I get the next choice...thinking of possibilities already.

Sweet! My wife's mother had an Impala also. It was a great car for her! We took it on a few trips out of state. She traded it in with 80k on the clock for a Jetta. Car never let her down! Good buy!!

Nah, don't plan on doing the wheels. I like the cheaper tires.

Tint the windows and get some flashing lights for the roof ( or grill) and you'll be all set. Actually just some extra antennas will do the trick.

You know what....I like that car. Congrats!

Long gone are my days of trying to tune the hell out of every vehicle I come across. I now value things that are reliable, and easy to maintain. God I"m lazy....

I see what you mean: I have gone from a sucession of Corvettes to a Pontiac Vibe and a Chevy Suburban. Must be getting old.
