2007 Stainless Mufflers on 2001?

Hey everyone, quick question for you all. I recently purchased a 2001 250 and hate the stock black mufflers, plus they are a little banged up. Can I swap them out for the 2007 stainless ones? I know most parts are interchangeable up until 2007, just want to make sure that goes for the cans too. Also if they will fit, will I need to rejet? Or is the only difference between these mufflers black vs stainless steel? Thank you!

I believe they are interchangeable. The only diff is the color/material they are made of.

They're chrome plate steel, not stainless, but they bolt right on.

The chrome pipes are an exact replacement for the black pipes. Coincidentally, my pipes are from a 2007 as well...... and they are mounted on my 2001. I think they look WAYYY better than the black ones, especially with the polished lips.

With the polished lips, I agree, but otherwise it sticks out and doesn't match the bike. Typically, people want to go the other way (chrome to black).

The 250 is truly an ugly bike (pre-gen), but I love mine regardless.

It is a face only an owner can love.

I don't think the pre-gens are ugly, just a bit dated. Honestly I think they look better than most fully fared bikes from the 80's. Your bike looks great SV

I like the pre-Gen look better than the new ones. Somehow that "angry stinger up in the air" look of the tail just doesn't do anything for me.
