Windy Riding Conditions

Hey guys!

So I was riding last weekend and the winds were around 18-20mph and I was getting blown all over the road. It got pretty nerve racking at times! I was riding with my step-dad and rides a cruiser and he said he wasn't effected at all. I was wondering if this was due to the fact that the Ninja 250 is light bike? Or lack of experience (been riding for a year). Also if y'all have any tips to help with windy conditions let me know. Thanks!

Riding in the wind

(from the Riding Skills Threads sticky thread at the top of this section)

The ninjette is a relatively light sportbike with extremely low effort steering geometry. It does get blown around a bit, but not much worse than other bikes of similar weight & style. An 800 pound cruiser that is low to the ground with incredibly lazy steering geometry will be a bit more stable.

I hit some pretty strong (45+ mph) crosswinds coming across Nevada and Utah a few days ago, and it was knocking my 600+ lb BMW around pretty good, so it is something that riders need to deal with no matter what motorcycle they are riding.

I have to cross a large suspension bridge everyday going to work and there are times that I am literally at 30 degree angle just to go straight. wind sucks, but I am more comfortable in it after a few months of riding in it
