Thank god.

Because MAP sensor and Crank sensor are good. Otherwise you don't have normal sparks and injections at all. ECU detect engine phase by both sensors.

Here is a plot of your data. That's why I think the valves are till problematic, at least the reason for the crappy run the other day.

Backflow

The last I heard, the Ninja is supposed to have a little backflow at the beginning of the compression cycle. The intake valve is intentionally held open a little ways into the compression stroke. This causes the bike to have greater efficiency - more power, more MPG, less noise from the muffler.

Perhaps someone else with an ecotrons kit on a pregen can log some data from the MAP sensor to see if its consistent?

I have some data somewhere. Let me see about digging that up...

EDIT: I don't have the disk with me atm so I can't take a screen shot, but I'm not sure if we can even upload that type of files here anyways?

Anyhow Matt, you have some logs from me when I was getting set up. You're more than welcome to use those as a comparison if you'd like.

Show what you are calling the "1|T" and "2|T" mark. I know there are some people that don't use the marks, but they are pros. Newbies should use the marks - especially when there is a question as to whether it was done right.

Attached is a photo of the two marks. Note that the hole is not directly above the mark, so you have to look at a sharp angle to see under the housing.

I think there is also a "1|B" mark on there which is used for something else.

THe MAP sensor @ecotrons mailed should be here by then anyways, even though we think the current one is good to go.

I guess we will be filming the valve adjustment and also filming the removal of the injectors and spraying them into the air.

I wish I could say that at this point.

Question regarding my case: Is there ANY chance that the ECU could be to blame for this?

ECU dead

After all that effort trying to get this thing installed. And finally doing it. The ECU is DEAD. No fuel pump running, no MIL light. Nothing. Dead.

EDIT: Referring to my installation and not lolibater.

Lol thank you for clarifying that. You almost gave me a heart attack.

How did you come to this conclusion for your kit though?

I kept getting an error in Procal when I tried to connect. I checked all my settings and they were right. Then I checked to see if the fuel pump comes on and it doesn't. There is no snapping of the relay. The little LED (MIL light) doesn't do anything either.

Perhaps Matt will chime in on this.

Dumb question n4mwd:

is your key turned "on" when you try and connect the ecu to the computer?

Yes. I tried it both ways. Tried disconnecting the ECU to restart it, but that didn't help either.

The ECU is dead. It should run the fuel pump for a few seconds and it isn't.

Did you go through the troubleshooting tips that are on the pdf file included on the disk? There's steps of things to check for if the pump doesn't cycle when you turn the key to "on".

Does the computer show a connection at all to the ecu when they're connected and the ecu is powered?

Not to be insulting here, but are you sure it's installed correctly? We all forget small details sometimes.

The only troubleshooting I got says that if the fuel pump doesn't come on for a few seconds after turning on the key - Check the wiring. I did and its all connected. The Pro Cal comes up and seems fine until I try hitting CONNECT. Then it gives errors. Does the same whether the key is on or off.

I tested the com port and it works. I don't think I forgot anything because everything is connected.

I just checked the fuses and they test OK. There are two of them. One is on the red battery wire and the second is on the green wire on the CDI connector.

I thought I had just figured it out, but the ECU is dead for sure. Its getting power, it just isn't doing anything with it.

Maybe its the wiring. But it should communicate with the ECU if its correct. I would make sure everything is connected and powered correctly.

The actual CDI box is removed. I was talking about the connector that used to connect to it. The new @ecotrons ECU takes over the CDI function. There is a fuse on the green wire that goes to the connector.

The fuel pump has two little female spade connectors and they are different sizes so you can't mix them up.

Yes, the ECU connector is set correctly. There is a lever and it is pushed down all the way.

I tried shaking the wiring harness while the key is set to ON and nothing happened.

I also followed the ECU reset procedure that Matt gave earlier in this thread. No change.

@ecotrons - Matt is there specific diagnostics for the ECU to see if its dead or not? Should I send it back?

You only voided your TB's warranty right?

Try not to mod the ECU

No I haven't added a new pulley to the ECU.

I'm not able to get it to show any signs of life. So it should still be covered under warranty. I'll try to post a video later.

Anyhow Matt, you have some logs from me when I was getting set up. You're more than welcome to use those as a comparison if you'd like.
One good start data, plotted as below:
Note, only it's comparable before the engine fires, because after fired, the MAP signal changes much faster.

Yes all the fuses and relays are good.

I also noticed tonight that the ECU was sort of warmish after sitting several hours with the key off but still connected to the battery.

I don't think the ECU is supposed to get warm like that when its off.

Matt, any suggestions? Should I send it back?
