Sync Carb must after Jet Kit installation?
Hi,
Here is a story of my bike. Bike run fine with stock setup from factory (even with slip on). After reading all thread and jetting dabase I purchase Factory Pro jet Kit. And this is what I do : 1. I installed/replace the needles and put eclip on 3 and 3 washer above. I ride my bike and notice at 9K bike seem bog and won't past 9k. (hard to climb from low end). Mixture screw Left 2.5 Right 2.5 as factory pro instruction. 2. Then I try to lower the needle and I put eclip on 2(put 2 washer above), test ride again and feel pull strong on low end and midrange, but whe I rev the thortle, it seems any hesitate the rev to high. Mixture screw 2.5 both. 3. I try eclip still on 2 (1 washer above clip and 1 washer under eclip). Test run bike seems ok but not as pull hard from low. Mixture screw 2.5 both. So my question is which combination was close to right setup and should I sync carb after installed jet kit? Because I play with the mixture screw and change with Left 2 3/4 Right 2 on all my combination test above and look like better then stock FP mixture. all test using stock PJ and MJ thanks |

Did you change the jets at all?
in number one, when it would bog, was that under partial throttle or full throttle?

Try removing your snorkel and going with either option 1 or 2

I had this issue when I first did my rejet. The problem was my main jets were too big (main jets = high revs). I was using a stage 2 kit from FP. FP recommends using the 90 main with 40 pilot for a stock air setup.
If you (like me) bought the stage 2 kit, you'll need to remove the airbox and install pods if you want that jet kit to work for you. Otherwise, you'll need to go back to your stock 98 main and stock pilot (you can still use the FP needle to shim and get better response on the low/mid range).
