CA/Western USA Ninjetter Rally??

One of the things I enjoyed most as a previous Riders of Vision forum member were some annual and semi-annual get-togethers/rallies that the ROV members would organize within their state/region. They would typically be for 2-3 days, have a discounted hotel/motel site for traveling members and some great rides, meals and destinations planned. The CA ROV Rally alternated between NorCal and SoCal and sometimes we expanded the sites to out of state for national and regional events.

Ive been on a couple of local Ninjette rides and had a lot of fun meeting and riding with my fellow forum members. If there an interest in doing something like this for CA Ninjetters? It would be great to meet and ride with the many So Cal Ninjetters. If there is enough interest, I think we could organize something great.

I think it could be fun. There was a gathering of ninjettes on the east coast a year or two back, and having one on the west coast would certainly be fun as well.

When and where would determine if this desert rat would be able to skip over the mountains to have some fun too.

I'm glad there's some interest in moving forward with this.

Some thoughts: 1. We could host the first one here in the SF bay area. We have lots of great roads and intersting stuff to see. Just a matter of determining the dates, the routes, and determining some lodging for out of towners.

2. We could pick a location midway between SF and LA and do similar planning. This would be a bit more challenging for planners without lots of local site knowledge.

SO let's start with defining a weekend that most people would be available for. How about Oct 26-28 ? Please let me know, if there is enough interest I'll keep working on it.

AFAIK That weekend should work for me.

If my opinion counts towards this I'd say leave it up towards SF. There are NorCal members here too so it'd be more centrally located for those in the state.

How about Nov 1-3 as an alternate?

I think having it centered here in the East Bay would work well for getting our first CA rally off to a good start before the riding season gets too cold.

Ok, Rebecca can't make it. I actually prefer Oct 26-28. So how many CA/NV/OR/AZ Ninjetters would be interested and available to attend our Rally ? If there is sufficient interest from traveling members I'll get to work identifying some lodging, some rides and actiivites for our gathering. Please let me know if you want to do this.

Since it's a far enough notice, I would like to come. However, Ma Nature and the Sierra Passes would dictate if I could make it or not.

It looks like we should plan for next riding season, just not enough time to get it in before the weather becomes an issue. I may just shoot for a local group ride on either proposed weekend. Thanks for all your input.

Is hit up any rally in the Orange county or LA areas for sure. Would be a bit tougher for me to go hundreds of miles to the bay area as much as I love it out there.

Now would be a good time to start planning a get-together. I'm open to a So Cal get-together but I would need some local assistance for planning the lodging, rides and dining . I just need to know that there is a strong enough interest before we invest a lot of effort.

Ok, it looks like there is some interest so lets start with planning on when. March should be good and my only commitment is in the first week of March, leaving the weekends of 3/15-16, 3/22-23 and 3/29-30 for a get-together. So please let me know which of those dates works the best for you.

It seems there are more NorCA people interested and that is where I live so I'll plan on organizing the first event around here: the SF Bay area. If this event succeeds than we can plan on another one in SoCal and in central CA. We could the next one either later on in the riding season.
I'll start: all 3 weekends are fine for me

I like the idea of first deciding on a general time period that would work for everybody, then getting more specific from there. I'll be in Vegas for a buddy's bachelor party between March 20-23. Other than that, the rest of the month works for me

My attendance is entirely at the mercy of whether the passes are clear or not so don't give too much weight to my availability. Having said said that, my only concrete commitment is the 29th.

Other than that, my only plan had been the weekend after the equinox (20th). If the temps cooperate, I am hoping to use the lengthening days to start working on my long rides again.

Short answer: the 15-16 perfect, 22-23 maybe.

Yes, let's take a chance; set a date and place. No time or venue will ever be perfect for everyone. If you can't make this meet-up, we'll see you at the next one.

I'm glad to see there is more interest in doing this. My part-time work has pulled me in do deal with some issues so I am forced to push back our CA/Western USA Ninjette Rally date to May 3&4, 2014. Let's go ahead and plan for that date and the host location to be my hometown of Livermore CA.
I'll see if I can a discounted rate for lodging here. We have lots of great riding here in the Livermore Valley and other great roads within a short distance. So block off the weekend of 5/3-4/2014 and plan to be here.
If anyone wants to help me plan and organize this get-together it would be appreciated.
thank you, GA ( Vic )

Sounds like fun. I'm going to put in a time off request tomorrow so I can get it on the calendar. As long as nothing major comes up in the meantime I should be in.

Will the festivities start early Saturday, like out of towners should come in on Friday afternoon/evening and stay the night?

I'm thinking take HWY 1 up from San Luis Obispo to Watsonville, then 129 to 152 to 101 to 680 to 84. Any locals or frequent travelers have any different suggestions? Anybody from further south want to join me on the way up?

Jeff, Yes, early start on Saturday so out-of-towners should be here on Friday night. I'll look for some lodging discounts here in Livermore and post the detals. It's going to be fun!

Well if anyone wants to go for a long ride in and out of CA I'll be leaving the Bay Area on Wed morning this week and heading to south Utah. 2 days and about 1100 miles. For the first day I'll be taking quite a few fun roads on the way to LA. The second day may start on HWY 2 through the forest if it gets the blessing from my SoCal peeps but then the rear is more Vic territor with the strait open roads and stuff. I'll be doing my best to get over 47mpg but its hard with my big Mtb of a sail hanging off the back.

Vic's new homework assignment it to figure out how to get over 100 mpg on a Ninjette while carrying a Mtb and enough stuff for 5 days of camping.
