Is this a scam?

http://cnj.craigslist.org/for/1801622425.html

looking through craigslist and i found this bike for sale. I talked to the owner to see if the bike was still for sale and this is the response i received:

"Hello

Thanks for being interested in buying my bike ,I will start my email by telling you that I'm currently out of country so pick up isn't an option , It's in excellent condition and runs like perfect, It has never been involved in any kind off accident, and it has got no mechanical problems, clean title and it was always garaged .
Right now I'm in the United Kingdom, just arrived here 3 days ago . Before i left I found a buyer and i had everything arranged.I payed for the shipping and sent it to him .But yesterday the buyer that i had asked me to wait another 4 weeks because his loan wasn't approved , i just canceled the deal ..I can't wait this long as I'm in the UK for 3 days now and i really need the money, I am in the moving process , changing the work place and everything ...A major issue is that if you want to buy my bike you really need to have the money ready for it.
The bike and its documents are in the DAS auto shipping warehouse waiting to be delivered to the next buyer. The transaction will be made only through eBay. eBay will be the third party that will hold the money till you will receive and inspect the bike .If the bike meets your expectations and you want to keep it you will have to tell them to release me the payment details so I can get paid. If you are interested in this purchase please reply me with your full name and shipping address so ebay can contact you regarding the payment and shipping process.
Let me know your thoughts,
P.S : If you need more info or pictures, just ask."

i've never dealt with a vehicle sale via eBay let alone a person overseas, so any insight would be helpful!

Got a bad feeling about this. Sounds like a standard scam setup.

Hah, I got almost the EXACT same response to a craigslist posting, except it was for renting an apartment. Definitely a scam.

It is't a scam. Send me the money and I'll not only make sure you get the bike but I'll make sure the owner gets the money ( minus my commission of course).

Yup- lots of 2-3 year old bikes on the Mlps craigslist going for dirt cheap. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is. I end up flagging them.

Anything where the owner is overseas is most likely a scam.

Yes. It is a scam. ANYTHING less than seeing the bike in person before you buy it is a scam.

Good luck on finding a real bike

Just tell the owner that they can send you the bike and you will gladly pay them upon receiving the bike. This puts the trust on them instead of you.

Yeah if they really want to sell that bike that bad, tell them to send it to you and then they will receive payment and not the other way around. Other than that probably is a scam

1. can ebay hold payment while you're inspecting the motorcycle?

I only ask because i just had a friend that moved to the UK and he was doing the same thing with his car from UK. so thats why I'm giving this dude benefit of the doubt, otherwise, i'd normally say...SCAM.

you can use Escrow services, but they cost extra. basically you send the money to the escrow service, and when they get it, the seller ships. once you check it out and it's to your satisfaction, they release the money. if you don't like what you got you send it back and the escrow service sends you your money back. just make sure you use a reputable one if you do as there's just as many fake escrow services as there are scammers. squaretrade is pretty well known.

Scam... even with escrow services you need to be extremely careful since they can easily send you to a fake one or create a phishing one just to get you to send the money.

I'd just lie to the guy and be like.. oh what a coincidence, I have a friend in UK in your area, can he come by and check out the bike? They typically will stop responding to you at that point.

Everytime I see something like this I play along.
Email and show my interest. Show them how excited I am about getting the best deal then toward the end I usually tell them to go get a life or go f themselves.
Notice how they always used a female name in their email and the email you get from ebay is not from @ebay.com.
