My first ride. Kind of!

Well I got my permit Thursday and got to finally get on the bike last night. I had my dad, who is an experienced rider ride it to a nearby parking lot. Then I rode in the lot for about an hour. Mostly practicing turns and starts and stops, but for me this is riding. I know really not the ride report you would expect on here but it was fun. Reading all the crash reports on here and the news has me a little afraid of the roads. I am sure that once I get use to riding the parking lot will bore me and I will get use to the roads but for now Im ok just putting around at 10-20 mph. Also I do wear some gear a helmet and a jacket and jeans. I am going back to the dealer next payday to get gloves and my pretty pink helmet since I look pretty goofy on a black ninja with a pearl white Harley cruiser helmet. lol!

Great job practicing before you hit the road For most people, slow speed maneuvers is actually the hardest part to master.

Agreed, going fast is easy, manouvering parking lots at slow speeds takes lot's of practice, Congrats on the new bike though!

Yippee! I'm not alone
Enjoy learning what the bike can do in a safe place. How's your Dad at the same slow maneuvers? It certainly takes finesse at the clutch but like you, I'm working on it.
No desire for street riding at all but I want to get to the newbie track someday and I'll have to get there so need to learn the street first.

Keep us posted as you learn, it's good inspiration for people like me who don't know anyone that rides.
