New Addiction...
Yes I have a new one. It is up there with motorcycles and cycling too.
Final Fantasy 13. This game is fuggin' AWESOME. I haven't played the FF series since #8 was out. It is like riding a bike. They did EXTREMELY well with this game. My wife complained to me about playing it so much yesterday. lol I rarely find a game that captures my attention like the FF games have. I'll be playing this until I beat it, then I may just do it again because I can. I highly recommend getting it!

I've played XII, X and X-2. I'd definitely give XIII a shot if I had a PS3; just a Wii/PC here. From my limited experience with FF games, they're extremely well put-together with excellent storylines.

I love the story lines. I really enjoyed VII. That was what got me really hooked on the series. VIII was good as well. Just fell out of it for a while. Got hooked on the Gran Tourismo and Forza series, as well as first person shooters. Now I'm coming back around.

MEH, I bought it on launch day, got into chapter 5 or so in a few days. Haven't played it since. It looks great, is fairly engrossing, but just didn't suck me in. Perhaps it was too so moving, or perhaps its just too repetitive so far. Not sure, I am a big FF fan. Maybe its our new baby (3 months old). I'll have to start playing again.

I do believe that I have lost track of what chapter I am on. I'm well into disk 2 as of today. How many disks are there to the game anyway? I am aware of 3, maybe a fourth is hidden in there as well?

The new version is quite involved. It is a real-time system now. No more turn play. You have to remain on your feet during the fights and pay attention, or else you will lose the battle. I was not sure of the new elements at first, but now I'm really enjoying it.

Ugh. I bought it for $30 new at K-Mart but Square has continued doing everything wrong, taking the series even further into "UGH!" territory.
Just listen to the "conversation" at the beginning of the International trailer with the sappy Leona Lewis song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJPbozRomX4 "We will see her, right?" "We will see her again...and soon. You convinced me of that [even though, apparently, you aren't even sure because you're asking me]. So, stay strong [even though I'm crying]." "Don't worry. [Even though I was just questioning the same thing only a few lines back, I want to give you some kind of false assurance.] We'll finish this and go see her together." ?!?! ... FAIL It's obviously just a filler scene meant to be one of those "Hey! We haven't had a cut scene in a while so we need one for this part to balance the rapid-fire FMVs later. We need them to go back and forth about the same thing or else it would be so short that people would wonder why we even bothered," so why the heck did they think it was "OMG awesome; let's use it in the trailer and it'll help sell the game!" material?! All the "What do you want from me?!" and " I'm sorry. I'm so sorry!" parts were big eye-rollers for me too, but it's the stupid over-emoting head-thrusting and bobbing that cements the mental image I have. Why can't someone just say "The point is, I have people I can count on" without leaning forward and thrusting their head up and down twice? And there's a baby chocobo chick LITERALLY roosting in his hair. Then there're "ugh" gems like these: "I thought that by changing my name I could change who I was." "My dream is but a fallacy's fantasy now." The trailer is meant to get me excited, not *facepalm* Now, OBVIOUSLY, I plan to give the game a chance anyway, but that's enough to make my twin brother so vocal about how stupidly it is presented that I pretty much have to hide the fact that I even considered buying it. Obviously, it lost his sale, so they still should have thought twice before continuing in this direction after FFX. Last futzed with by CZroe; May 15th, 2010 at 09:03 PM. |

I don't care for the cinematic sequences much, but I do like the gameplay.

i never played FF back in the day cause my buddy use to play it enough for three people.. and I tried the new new one for like 10 fights into the first disc and gave it up cause it seemed to be just as it was almost 8 years ago... Suppose I just didnt give it much of a try.. I did play FFX Online though
Personally im awaiting All Points Bulletin to be released

Speaking of being released, who has heard anything about the new Red Dead Redemption?
Oh, and will you be buying it? I think I will be.

So far I have 75 hours into 13 i think. I thought the story was good and the gameplay while repetitive for a while really opens up and becomes difficult when you get to the open exploring. Red dead looks like another game I'll have to be picking up soon.
I've played a majority of the Final Fantasy's including XI online. 13 was definately different but was a good change I felt. |

I picked up the controller and played a bit yesterday, stomped Odin down pretty easily and then played for 30 min or so. I think I just need to keep plugging away and try to get to the part where it opens up. Everyone I talk to says the game improves alot then.

Its almost night and day between the first 11 or 12 chapters when it is linear to when it opens up. Plus the battles get a lot more fun once it opens up too. Even after finishing the story and thensome there are still monsters that can wipe the floor with me.

great great game.
to be honest, its a fun game and all, but 80% of the reason i keep on playing it is to figure out whats gonna happen next in the story. such a great story. |

I'm just gonna say it. If you are over 17 and still playing video games you have issues.

I actually have plenty. But I use it prepping bikes and more productive things. I don't consider getting to level 8 an accomplished day.

You and I have two completely different meanings of the word "accomplish," then, fellow. I'm in affiliate marketing, foreign exchange and software development though; my work is done at the computer. I have an excuse.

To each their own. I really enjoy playing the game. I'm going to start training on my bicycle again. I have to be ready for a century ride in August. Should be fun!
