I read through that DIY thread, am I correct that it eliminates the mounted ignition coils, they're now built into the plug caps? This would allow removal of the valve cover without removing the engine mount?

This would come in handy with high-compression upgrade. Denser mixture is more difficult to ignite and having some extra spark-energy can't hurt.

Don't forget to open the spark gap a little to take advantage of the hotter coils.

NGK (7669) CR8HIX Iridium IX Spark Plug, Pack of 1

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000HDF852..._D8DIzb27VN53A

keep in mind I have a PreGen, a NewGen calls for a different plug.

IIRC, but double check to be sure, I know that PreGen take a small thread size, as the NewGen use big threads

Yes they are but you only have 2, if you foul one your not in good shape, hence why I use the iridium plugs, and they do last longer, and it's only 2 plugs your buying, not 4

also avoid using certain brands as they don't work well in the Ninjette
