I am always geared up whenever I go out.

Helmet - HJC SL-CP
Pants - Scorpion Exo XDR Pants, Black(These are awsome and a Must. Body armer and a removable lining. The outer shell is mesh so it is not any hotter than just riding in Levis, but the lining is wind/waterproof, so you stay warm on cold days. I ride in 20F degree temperatures in the spring and 100f degree temps in the summer and these pants are always comfortable).
Jacket - Full leather Blue Black & White.
Gloves, Scorpion CoolHands, Blue.
Boots.

Get pants!!!!!!!!! They are comfortable and will save your hide if you are ever in a bad situation.

Right now:

Helmet- Seven 0 Seven Vendetta helmet (Cycle Gear shop brand)
Jacket- Scorpion Nip/Tuck Jacket (love it- fits fantastically)
Gloves- Icon Pursuit - really like these, not a lot of padding but very sleek and don't get in the way of my jacket sleeves zipping up
Boots- not 100% happy with the boots style-wise, but I had to buy something fast for the MSF course. They're really comfortable though, didn't even need a break in.

I'm still tracking down the Scorpion Savannah pants I want, nobody seems to have them in a size to fit my ass If I haven't found them in a couple of weeks I may try the Haley pants, but I'm worried the XL won't fit me- I have powerlifter thighs.

Dude, motorcycle gear is another expensive habit I did NOT need It's on the lines of buying things for the house. "But I *need* it- it'll keep me *safe*!" therefore, totally justifiable.

Is it possible to wear the scorpion savannah pants over shorts or another pair of pants? I work at a place where it's not really possible for me to change, and after basketball games I'd rather not wear leathers, but would still like protection!

my wife has those pants. she said that gym shorts would be fine, but she doesn't think you would be able to wear work pants underneath... unless you bought a size larger than you normally would.

it is a rather form-hugging riding pants.

I've only had experience with a pair of their gloves- bought them at Cycle Gear. They fell apart within 2 days of wear YMMV of course.

It's one of the house brands of Cycle Gear. Some of their stuff seems to be OK, some a little better than OK, some a little less than OK.

I see a lot of scorpion and JR, I have a JR jacket and a scorpion helmet, both I like, 'cept the helmet has a lot of wind noise, (but I wear earplugs) Still looking at getting either JR pants or scorpion pants. Possibly looking at some different gloves because the scorpion cool hands that I have are starting to wear.

So, I couldn't get the Scorpion Savannah pants I wanted, they were out of stock until September. I took it as a sign to get leathers and got the Alpinestars Stella Cat pants:

My review for them:

-They run very narrow in the hips/thighs. I had to get a size 14 (50 in A* sizing) to accomodate my *cough* posterior, which made them too big in the waist. I can deal with that, just keep it in mind; these will likely fit a slimmer build perfectly.

-They are *very* high rise. They definitely fit at or above your real waist; I'm short-waisted so that's right at the bottom of my rib cage for me. Because of this, when you're on the bike and bending forward, they cut into you a bit.

-Design wise: they have a snap fastener for the waist which is terrible for leather, it pops open every time the leather flexes. They also use zippers for the knee armor pockets which can be pretty uncomfortable rubbing against your legs. They are lined with taffeta, which feels nice, but a) doesn't stretch and b) is a pretty warm fabric.

They are not ventilated at all, solid construction, no pockets. The leather is a very good quality though, the feel and quality of the pants is excellent. I've been wearing them in 90 degree weather in the sun and really haven't felt overheated in them. I plan on replacing the waist snap with a velcro closure which should solve the flexing/popping issue.

Overall, definitely A* quality with a few sizing/function issues due to my particular body type. I'd definitely recommend them, just keep in mind how European sizing tends to run (narrow in the hips/chest/waist) and be prepared to alter the clothin accordingly.

My gear:
Shoei RF1000 (solid white)
new leather one-piece, custom made by Spartan Leathers (great guy to deal with)
Oxtar TCS boots
Dainese back protector (not an insert)
A* SP2 gloves
foam ear plugs

That is what I wear when I hit the canyons or the track. I will sometimes wear all that for my commute to work, but usually for the commute it is:
Shoei RF1K
Joe Rocket textile jacket (armored)
FT strike 2 boots
A* SP2 gloves
jeans

*** Had an accident in June which ended in knee surgery. Since then I will not ride without some form of knee protection. Either my Cortech pants with knee armor or my Thor knee/shin protectors. Think about it, the chances of your knees hitting the ground in an accident are pretty high, yet a lot of people neglect this part of their body when buying gear. A knee injury will sideline you for a long time while it heals and surgery and physical therapy are a lot more expensive than a set of knee guards for $50-90. Don't forget to protect those knees!
Sounds vey familiar, I too had a knee injury due to a bike accident, broke the left kneecap in half, while WEARING the joe rocket textile pants, I believe when i hit the ground the knee pads shifted out of place, so this time I bought leather, but anyways I've got:

Helmet: Icon Alliance SSR
Jacket: Joe Rocket Corona Replica Jacket (Leather)
Pants: Teknic Chicane Leather Pants
Boots: Joe Rocket Meteor Boots (love how they're waterproof)
Gloves: Icon Pursuit (I know, ****** gloves, I'm going to go get some TiMax TRX (Long) ones asap)

I'm a skinny little guy so I need to get around to adding some more velcro to the knee/shin guards. The Redline is wonderful for cool/cold weather but it's a little toasty for warm days; which is when the Yoshi comes out.

I find it interesting that every time I asked a someone about stopping fogging, they ONLY told me about things to stop the face shield from fogging... What about my glasses? I managed to find the Foggy Mask on my own on the nets... Best piece of gear I own! It was a bit uncomfortable at first, but I've gotten use to it and love it!

New jacket:

Icon Hella Crossbones ladies jacket in Crusader White

Initial impression: SOOOOOOOO in love with this jacket. Good leather quality, awesome little detailing- zipper pull is a skullie, stitching is nice and tight, there is some perforated leather under the arms. Corset straps on the side for sizing, and it says "Hell Bent, Heaven Sent" on the zipper flap :P Back, side and shoulder vents.

Sizing: runs large. I got a L and returned it for a M; I'm usually a L so I was surprised. Better than the alternative I guess? Very long in the sleeves.

Fit: Awesome. Only felt a little stiff out of the box; lots of room in the chest and the side buckles snug it up nicely. Liner is quilted.

Obviously I can't wear test it but from lounging around on the couch with it, it's fantastic.
