New Rider in NY
Hello All!
Just passed the NY MSF Basic course this weekend and bought myself a 2010 250R. Really looking forward to putting some miles on it. I do have a question about an odd smell... but I'll save that for another thread. Looking forward to meeting some people and learning a lot through this forum. |

Ah, Rockland County...
Home of Harriman State Park, which is hands down the most popular weekend riding destination in the NY area. Fun, fun roads... can be a bit of a zoo on nice weekends, though. I've enjoyed it when I've headed over that way but it's not a regular destination for me. The usual gathering spot is on the other side of the Hudson, at the traffic circle in Peekskill where 9 intersects with 202. Then it's that lovely twisty road along the river up to the Bear Mountain Bridge, where you cross over into Rockland County. From there you can head up to 218 past West Point and Storm King and into Cornwall (amazing cliff road) then turn around, or go into Harriman park and explore the roads there. Lots of great riding. The police presence increases on nice weekend days when lots of riders come out.
