Wet cylinder

I've had my bike sitting for a long time and today was the second time I pulled the carbs off, when I do I stuff paper towels into the intake ports to keep dust out and without fail when I go to pull the paper towels out one of them is dark yellow colored and almost completely soaked. I thought it was oil from leaking valve stem seals but this time when it did it (took only a few hours between pulling them off and reinstalling) I smelled it and it smelled heavily of gasoline

I stuck my finger into the port and the inside was wet with fuel too. Where is the gas coming from? Something is seriously wrong here

I can't say that's too closely related because my oil level is still the same that it's been before I parked it several months ago, I have no trouble starting and it runs fine (now that I took the carbs apart) besides a wacky idle

if it sits for a long time I can visibly see the fuel filter drain of all its fuel, does that mean the fuel is leaking out of the carb in this case?

Semi related, but when I removed the float bowls the main jet screw was unscrewed two turns out, would that have something to do with it? I couldn't find any info on position of main jet screws but from all the photos it looks like they should be screwed in completely so I did that to both before reinstalling

By seeing the fuel drain while it's not running your almost certainly looking at a float needle not sealing in the carb bowl, and that will make the mixture rich, which will screw up the idle, and if your petcock was leaking (apparently it's not) you would have a crankcase full of fuel also. Yes the main jets should be tight.

A leaking float needle, combined with a leaking petcock, could dribble gasoline into the intake port. If the intake valves are closed at the time, the fuel would just collect in the intake runner, waiting for the paper towel to soak it up.

As of now I'm gonna assume it was because the main jets weren't screwed in all the way, in pretty sure the one that was unscrewed further was the cylinder where all the fuel was
