Mystery Bolt

Hi all,

First time posting. I got a 2011 Ninja 250r as my first bike and I just took the fairings off to install frame sliders (no debate please).

This bolt just fell out when I pulled the fairings apart.

I'll try to attach pictures tonight (on mobile ATM) but the bolt looks exactly like the steering stem bolt right under the keyhole.

Should I be concerned or is it just an extra bolt that fell in from the manufacturing plant?

No pic but I highly doubt it is an extra

Woah man. That is a wang-jangler sae 12 bolt that holds the airbags in! Time for a trip to the Yamaha dealer for a recall repair!

Kidding. Looks important. Do some flashlight research for sure and use a mirror around corners. I'll see if I can find one and let you know.

Actual footage from inside the Kawasaki plant

Could be the worker picked up two and dropped one. You don't stop the line to go hunting and it got by the QC inspector.

Equally if not more likely: Previous owner removed it for some reason, dropped it and couldn't find it. Having stuff vanish from in front of my very eyes has happened to me before.

There's only one of those on the bike. Relevant parts fiche here:

Thanks for the confirmation! Just wanted to double check as a sanity check =] with a bolt this big, I would've expected some catastrophic failure by now.
