Funny moment

I'm picking up my bike at the dealer after they did the 1000km (600mi for you yanks) service and as I was standing beside my bike wearing boots, pants, jacket with spine protector underneath and helmet getting my gloves on and cinched up a fella came into the back lot of the dealership and kept looking at me smiling.

Being the mostly friendly guy I am I smile back and go about my business, finishing with the gloves and then firing up the bike and letting it idle for a minute with some choke before I headed out. He keeps looking over now and then and smiling, then I see why... his son rides in on a black '08+ 250R with rash on it's right side, broken signals and cracked plastics. The son is wearing shorts with some bright red rash on his right knee / lower leg.

"Dad" as I reckon it guides him to where he should park after he stopped in the middle of the lot to get off before following "Dad's" direction and parking to the side along with the other bikes.

I pull out to leave and he looks over and smiles again before I ride away.

I'm not sure what it was about and given I am still a newb and damn lucky to have not had any incidents on my bike yet I am not insinuating anything here, esp since I'm guessing at the relationship between "Dad" and the rider, but it sure looked like father and son communication as I know it. But all things aside I like to think the look was at least a "Nice to see someone wearing all the gear". If not, I'm taking it that way regardless.

Note: the 1000km service was easy (read: cheapish and no issues found) but they couldn't find / fix the rattle I get from 4 - 6k RPM but did note it... the fastner tightening search continues.

The mechanic who worked on my bike noticed and noted it but after they did the standard first service fastener check it is still there. I plan to systematically check and torque areas to see if I can find the cause, otherwise if it doesn't get worse and e erythink is ok just let them know and not worry about it. The bike is sound mechanically so I reckon it is one of those things.

Interesting how sometimes no words have to be exchanged to have a full conversation with someone.

The best things in life are those for which there are no words.

Be very careful with Loctite as it dissolves some types of plastic.

On fasteners for windshields, I like a very tiny dab of clear silicone caulk. Don`t use 3M5200. GE caulk would be my choice.
