Air Box Mod and Rain Riding

Has anyone who removed their air filter box had problems riding in the rain, or does the seat provide enough protection from moisture?
Sorry If this is a repeated question, new to the forum and not too good navigating through all the post yet.
P.S. My name is Tito, Ive had my 250 for 2 years now. Its a 2009 and its red. Ive done no mods to it because it hasnt seen much of the road recently.

It's like hidden trunk space we never knew about.

As for the weather, as long as it's not directly in the path of a high pressured hose, I'm sure it'll stay dry enough to not be an issue. Especially since there are so many riders using them. Just a guess though since I havent swapped mine out yet.

No, No, No!!!!! If you ride in any type of rain, I wouldn't ride w/o the airbox!!! You are just asking for a seized/hydrolocked motor!!! I advise you to put the airbox back into the bike right away!!!

lol... just kidding. Just wanted to see what someone telling you to put that %($&(* airbox back in would do to you.

Actually, the side panels and seat form a pretty good "airbox" for the pods that you use when removing the airbox. It keeps water from directly splashing onto the filters. I've not had any problems from running w/o the airbox.

Be advised, though, that riding in water high enough to completely submerge the air filters can possibly lead to hydrolock. If that should happen, I would think you would have bigger problems as the water level would need to be up to the seat height on the bike, though the same problem would occur with the stock airbox in place.
