ITT: Discussion about Brakes

I have started to see brakes squeaking and such threads here and there and want to end that once and for all (Hopefully sticky).

Even after my bike is fairly warmed up through a 20 minute city drive, the brakes begin to squeak. Reading through most of the brake threads there has been discussion about how it could be either:

-Over tightening of the axle bolt
-Not enough lubrication of the bearing
-Dusty or bad-(bad either meaning low quality or low life) brake pads
-Possibly the--I think im using the right term, rotars? If they are warped or something like that.
I check my rotars frequently to see if the brake pads are hurting the rotars by scraping the surface with a dime to see if there are significant grooves. How and when do you know the little bumps on the rotars become too much?

What is the solution to the brakes? Or what did you guys do to solve this problem?

(I know that kkim stated in a previous thread that his brakes are fine but for the most part I think that many people have this problem because I honestly think my bike has been taken care of in the best of my ability)

I'll go first, I think the solution to this problem is to buy a brembo kit ( I will not be surprised if one of you bike junkies have already done so )

Oh and one last question, how good of a quality are the stock brake pads compared to other bikes?
