Wiring license plate lights

Hello everyone, this is my first post as the proud owner of a 2011 Ninja 250 SE with just over 5000 miles! The only modification is a fender eliminator (appears to be a DMP kit) which seems to have also eliminated the license plate light. I have a couple bolt LEDs and I'm trying to figure out where the original wires would have gone to. I've attached a picture of the only unused connector I can find under the rear seat. Is this the connector for the plate light? If so, does anyone know what the connector is called or where to get one? I know I could splice into the hot wire for the tail light, but I like to wire things so they look OEM.

Easy enough to figure out what wires on that connector are. Pull out multimeter and measure:

- blk/yel is most likely ground, measure resistance to chassis-ground bolt to verify
- red, measure for voltage with key ON, then step on brake
- blu/red, measure for voltage with key ON, then step on brak

These tests will find you constant ON wire for plate light.

To find matching connector, look on this site: https://www.corsa-technic.com

My bike a 2012 250R Ninja had a fender eliminator kit on it too that someone took a hack saw to and tore it all up...so I replaced it with a green billet aluminum one that looks much nicer anyway...
it came with a LED licenses plate light and I simply turned the key on and the tail light came on, so I hunted through the bunch of wires at the taillight to find the hot wire and just spliced into it. the black/yellow is ground for both turn signals back there so I used the black/yellow as the ground wire and it now comes on with the key just like the tail light !
..... if you want a normal splice to look nice, just put
heat shrink tubing over it....(before you solder the wires up) then shrink it with a heat gun or lighter !
...
...I think that connector goes to something else ! the ones back at the taillight are small bullet connectors I think. at least they were on my bike !

That connector went to original taillight. It contains ground, brake and tail light signals (can be used for license-plate light).

I suppose when they installed integrated taillight/brake/turn-signals it came with bullet connectors and didn't plug in directly. So they vampire-tapped into wires. Damn hacks!

Mating 3-way male-connector might be one of these (will have to find dimensions from somewhere to compare). Although it looks like older unsealed Molex connector. But most likely Hitachi-style Sumitomo:

Turn-signal lights can use these connectors to plug into factory harness:

EDIT: found Sumitomo MTW connector dimensions here.
