Headlight Connector

Looking at Eastern Beaver's connectors (http://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/El...onnectors.html), which one do I need for the stock headlights?

You'll need one for an H7 bulb(NewGen), I didn't see any on the website. You might want to drop them an email.

If your looking for a PreGen then H4 bulb, which they have

Might I ask why your looking for for one?

I want to make a splitter to hook up Photon Blasters to run off the headlight line so they don't turn on until the engine is running. I don't want to cut any stock wiring so hence the splitter.

Hmm I was just looking at the H4 connectors, I guess the bulb plugs right into it? Didn't know that, I'll have to rethink my plan. What about the headlight relay, does that use a connector I can plug a splitter into?

Unfortunately I'm not familiar with NewGen 08&up but I'm not aware of any relay used.

This might help

The relay is responsible for turning it on when the ignition is triggered, and upon investigation of my bike it would work, but it would be pretty bulky. I'll probably end up going with just a normal switched 12V source.

The Photon Blasters are LEDs that only draw a few watts (the H7 bulbs are 55W each, for comparison). Personally, I'd wire them in to either the accessory fuse (if the NewGen still has that) or taillight wiring (which powers every light on the bike except headlight and turn signals).

Remember that if there's a problem with any device you add to the headlight circuit which causes it to blow the fuse, you'll lose your headlight too. I'd rather not do anything to increase my chances of losing my headlight, so I avoid adding anything to its circuit.

If you really want the startup delay, you should wire in a relay to trigger off the headlight circuit, but power the device from its own circuit. With a small load like these LEDs, I wouldn't even worry about it.
