Running ninjette with no muffler, bad idea??
I recently removed my muffler to install my two bros slip on...
However, I discovered that My right side foot peg bracket is bended in and the two bros slip on will not mount onto the bike because of it.. Until I figure out my next move, im running with no muffler.. Are there any harsh effects of running the bike like this??? WIll i mess up my motor?? 09 ninja 250r |

other then being insanely loud above 5k rpms.. it shouldnt really hurt anything. a aftermarket slip on has no backpressure as its just a straight through glasspack basically. you can also either try bending your bracket back out or go to your local hardware store and either make a new hanger which would remove your stock rear peg.. not sure if you need it .. or make a small bracket to hang off your stocker and then to the slip on until you can get a new rear bracket.

it will decrease your engine's performance when operating, as 250's require exhaust back flow pressure. not sure if you'll ruin your motor tho.

Well the first thing it's going to do is piss off just about every single person in about a half mile radius. The bike is ridiculously loud with no muffler on, to the point you might get pulled over. I did a few runs with no muffler on just for fun with some friends and noticed the noise was excessive. The other thing I noticed was a loss of power. This makes sense since taking the muffler off reduces the back pressure. Too little back pressure on our little motors will cause them to not run at top performance. Damage wise, I don't think it will do any really harm to the motor. It will do harm to people's hearing however.

it probably feels slower becuase its just so loud lol! but most likely no muffler on a stock bike is a little less power but should be same power as a aftermarket slip on stock bike as its breathing better now you need to be sucking in more air on the inlet side and adding more fuel with jets. i dont think your ears will be able to deal with it though after a few days loL! i know when i had my shorty can i made that was a 4" long canister .. going down the HWY at 10K only after 5-10 miles was WAY too much.

by a new bracket.. look in the marketplace here or ebay. look at the bottom of that thread where i show my bracket. that would work while still retaining your stock, bent bracket.

the stock pipe was mounted using some kind of rig similiar to the link u showed me...
I removed the whole set up and installed the passenger foot bracket and was getting ready to install my two bros exaughst.. the hanger was so far away from the exhaust, that mounting it is impossible.. I cannot even mount my factory pipe to the FACTORY passenger bracket.. so I know something is seriously wrong... |

No one has pointed this out... Ive read a lot that you can burn a hole in your piston with no muffler. There is a certain back pressure that the TBR (or any other exhaust) creates that is vital to the engine running smothley
Also is bent not bended

Running without a muffler for an extended period of time is a bad idea. You'll damage valves/pistons/your hearing

I ran with no muffler for a week or so. Didnt ride very much just a couple jaunts around the neighborhood and once up to the exhaust shop. The power band gets real jacked up w/o a muffler....you'll have no mid-range at all. Also, detonation can occur which can eventually mess up your valves/pistons. Get a muffler, save your ear drums.

As long as the muffler bearing remains lubricated you should be OK.
