I'm not sure what you mean by not seeing this hose... you mean you didn't notice if it was connected to anything? It's been a while since I've dug around by carburetors, but I'm fairly certain that's a vent hose, meaning it doesn't connect to anything at the other end

A helpful way to check is to look for a clamp on the other end. if there is one, it defnitely connects to something. if not, it's probably a vent hose.

you'll want some length of hose there if it was there before; enough to direct it a bit away from the engine would be my guess. I have a new gen, but on mine the various vent hoses all run back and down to about where the rear shock is.

I believe that's a vaccuum hose, or snorkel, as I've heard it referred to as. I may be wrong there. Those two may not be the same thing. But I've heard of people removing their snorkel with no ill effects. Mine is still connected, haven't played with it since re-jetting. But maybe someone can pipe up with absolute correct info on that.

its an overflow hose that comes from the carb bowls . if the float gets stuck the overflow of gas runs out the tube to the bottom of the bike. no "technically" its not needed BUT i would rather have any gas run out under my bike than all over it waiting for a spark. some might argue that without the tube attached an negative presure can occure where the tube attaches and can cause gas to get sucked out. (don't know how true that is but i have heard of stranger things).

The snorkel is the rubber rectangular tube that forms the air intake section of the airbox. It's unrelated.

broken seal, or a loose screw

before you put the new seal in, were the faces cleaned, no old seal materialwas left, any little bit could cause a leak

careful on tightening the screws, do each one a little bit, and if you can tighten in a criss cross pattern, snug em down, then apply more torque
