rearsets QUESTION

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Kawas...Q5fAccessories

Can anyone tell me if these will be worth buying, I'm in desperate need for full rearsets and I have $250 right now. I know Woodcraft is better but I would have to wait to get them and I do not know how much longer my gear pedal will last before the damn thing breaks off. If these will be a good buy I will order them right now. I need to know. Anyone?

why would you need to wait for the WC's?

what's wrong with your shift lever?

Dropped my bike in the driveway and the lever bent inwards, I've had to bend it quite a few times bc it keeps bending. plus when I shift it still hits the adjusting bar. I'm scared to bend it out farther than I already have.

take the lever off and pound it straight. If it breaks, have it welded for now.

again, why do you need to wait for Woodcrafts?

always straighten a shift lever OFF the bike. if you do it on the bike you run the risk of bending the shift shaft and causing an oil leak at the shaft/seal, as well as other possible damage.

There have been several review threads on these. They're a passalbe solution, but there are better made ones. If you're surfing ebay, there are plenty of stock parts for WAY less to repair your issue, and you won't have the issues that adapting race oriented rear sets for the street brings.

Wait some until you're ready and are SURE you want rearsets for the benefits that rearsets are meant for, and understand the drawbacks and not just as a repair item, by then, there should be several more offerings on the market, and you'll be able to pick your features and price point.

oh regardless if it was broken or not I Would still be getting rearsets, the bent up gear lever just is just rushing me into it. Though, I don't want to be getting screwed on it which is why I was wanting to get some good ones. Which is why I wish Gilles made them for the 250. Once I pay off my debt next year, I plan on turning the 250 into a track bike anyways. Probably moving to either a 650R or a ZX6 for my daily ride I know it should be the other way around but I honestly think if I turned made the ZX6 into track I might kill myself. I know I can kill myself either way but for some reason I would just feel more comfortable on a 250 at the track knowing the power limits. Just knowing I have more power in my hands when hitting the twisties I could see myself pushing my luck. With the 250 on the other hand I'm sure I could peg the hell out of it around a turn and get the same effect as those other supersports get at half throttle And don't get me wrong I know it's safer on the track rather than on the street but I'm a lot more cautious on the street knowing there might be some sand or rubber or something on the other side of the turn. I might not be making any sense to any of you maybe I didn't explain it good enough but it makes sense to me in my head and I know it would be the more comfortable decision for me and I think that's all that matters

yes, but they are even more than the WC rearsets.

Banzai makes a good point of just fixing the damaged shift lever and letting the rearsets be an entirely separate issue.

OK, newb question, what is the reason for replacing the rear sets, ( I just found out what you were talking about) I know n4t's are damaged, but what other reason is there for replacing them? What advantage is there?

As far as I know:

1) They're adjustable
2) Aftermarket rearset pegs don't fold up, they're stationary, so they can possibly help save your bike from lowside damage

I have these rearsets Tim's asking about. Supposedly they're Sato knockoffs. A local dealer is selling them here in the bay area. I say they're not bad. I paid slightly less than the ebay ad, and the guy installed them for me for free

Well I will be installing them myself, so you say they are sato knockoff's. You have the exact brand that's on ebay and they are good ones, aye? If I can save over $100 rather than getting the WC's and the quality difference isn't too bad, I will definately go for it

Now ask yourself:
"Can I buy just individual pieces like I can with the WC items if I happen to have another incident that breaks the new gear lever? or Footpeg? or Heel guard?"

You can with the WC rearsets btw...

^ he can maybe message the guy on ebay to ask if it's possible. I think the local dealer over here allows us to be able to get individual pieces if needed if we request

I made that mistake once, it ended up being a $300 lesson because of a parking lot hit and run. It is better to have that thought and information available before you too get stuck having to buy an entire set just to replace a single part.
