VALENTINO Rossi paid his tributes to the late Marco Simoncelli this weekend by wearing special one-off leathers at the Mugello GP.

Celebrating his 300th GP start, Rossi wore his Dainese leathers with #thisforSIC58 embroidered on the back, showing his support for the Marco Simoncelli Foundation, a humanitarian organisation in memory of Marco who was killed in an accident at the 2011 Malaysian GP.

The suit will be put up for sale on Wednesday 18 June on Dainese's website with the takings contributing to the support of the Santa Marta project, a day centre for the disabled that the Simoncelli Foundation is building near Coriano, Marco’s home town.

The auction winner will receive the leathers in a special display case complete with Rossi’s signature.

This weekend also marks Simoncelli’s entry into the MotoGP Hall of Fame as a MotoGP Legend, one of only 21 riders to do so.
