Yoshimura CF or Akrapovic exhaust?

I'm considering swapping the Yoshi CF for the new Akra whenever it comes out just to try out something new. Which one do you think looks better?

Yoshi CF:

yokozuna,

cool can man. How is the sound compared to Yoshi? I kinda like the titanium/CF end cap version however.

ETA for avail of this exhaust is mid October in case you're interested. It's $450 for the S/O.

I have that exact Yoshi exhaust and I love it. I personally prefer the look of the CF Yoshi on the black bike (exactly what I have as well) vs. the steel Akra, but if you want something new, go for it. I can't over-emphasize how much I love both the look and the sound of the Yoshi on my bike, but it hardly ever hurts to try something new.

Be sure to post some pics when you get it installed.

Anyways, i sold the Yoshi for cheap and now waiting for the Ti version of the Akra to be released (they released the all CF version). So my bike is "exhaustless"...sold stock one long time ago too

Note to self: don't sell your exhaust until you got the new one!!! duh!

Question

Can we please get a sound bite/youtube of the Akra? Can't find one for a 250R anywhere on the 'net.

I'm also tossing up between the Yoshi and the Akra - been quoted AU$800 fitted for the Akra CF slip on here in Australia (which is roughly US$725 at today's exchange rate of 1 AU$ = 0.9066 US$). Seems pretty stiff by comparison with the prices I'm finding in the US :-(

Cheers,
A.

Hmmm...trying to see the actual difference between the pipes isn't that easy.

http://www.yoshimura-rd.com/ps-3523-...n-slip-on.aspx

vs

http://www.akrapovic.com/motorcycle-...on-e02a3348fe/

The charts don't show much difference at all, the Akra doesn't seem to come with/use a heat shield.

I guess I'm after a vanity uplift and some small increase in grunt if possible.

I just bought (received) a Akra slipon (titanium version) yesterday. I'll install it next week when I get back into town (currently out of town for work). I'll try to take a video/sound for you.
btw, $725 is a lot. I paid $405 shipped (but shipping costs may be varies since you don't live where I live).

Wow what an embarrassing comparison graph! Not even a 1hp increase...

Without the insert the pipe is very loud. With the insert the mechanics were surprised how quiet it was and how close is was to the stock pipe's loudness apart from the deeper note.

After all the back ordered, work, vacation and all, I finally installed and test drive the akra titanium. Love the sound. Much quieter than yoshimura which I like. I can ride around small roads without ear plugs and my ear doesn't get hurt. Looks great. I like it more than all cf version. It stands out a little more and the ti color doesn't looklike the cheaper stainless. Gladi made the switch.

definately feel a loss of power with the Akra comparing to Yoshi. I guess the Akra is more restrictive = lower noise = less power. I usually not very sensitive to the power increase/loss but I can definately feel on this one. Midrange is not as responsive as with the other slipon. However I like the noise reduction. I think I can live with the trade off.

Is that with or without the insert?

Hmmmm....I've had the Akra insert in and out for a few days at a time, and TBH apart from the difference in sound level, I can't feel much difference myself...perhaps a very slight decrease in power without the insert; I'm certainly no expert though.

well, so even with the powerloss with the Akra...i switched to map #2 (and 93 octane) on the non-prog BRT from ztrack. Man, the bike is alive!! so responsive & i feel like i get all the "loss" power back with the Akra on..and low noise. I'm a happy man
