The First 10k
I like the reflection in this pic, pretty cool. So after 5 months and 28 days, I've finally hit 10,000 miles and have spent over $12,000 doing so! When I first bought the bike I tricked myself into believing I would actually be saving money, I'd say I'm a really good salesman. Needless to say, it's the best decision I've ever made. At this rate my ninja should be back to 0 miles in 4.5 years. I will then sell it as a brand new mint condition 2011 Black Ninja with no miles! Any takers? That's all for now, just had to post up my first 10k

Holy hell! I've had mine for a little over a year and a half and will roll over 10K this week. I've also only put an additional $2,300 into mods... what does your money include

I compromise with an avg 55. 45 when I'm really pushing it, but commuting doesn't let me do that all the time.
But eh, nothing wrong with revving it up |

Congrats on your first 10k! I was so happy when I passed that marker, just rolled over 20k this summer (only averaging ~7k annually), but it's almost all recreational riding.
Good idea on the spreadsheet. Need to set one up for myself (or steal one), but I'm honestly a bit afraid to see what it's cost me over the past three years. Definitely love the white gauges, but quite happy with my blue backlight, black-faced gauges. What's the lighting color on the newer ones?

Sean,
Your Ninja is being ridden like it should be ridden. I put 12K miles on mine and it never saw under 7000Rpm. When I traded it in, the dealer did his thing, checking it out, and said that it felt like a new bike. For grins and giggles, you should do a spreadsheet on your cage for a comparison. Your gas prices are higher in CA. My daughter lives in San Jose---beautiful area and very bicycle friendly.

@Sailariel
The thing about my car though is that it gets really really good mileage. I mean I can go well over 2 months without having to fill it up. This thing gets about 7-10 days/gallon. It's pretty nice

10k miles in 6 months?! Do you have a long commute or are you spending every weekend riding?
I have a 20 mile round-trip commute, and it's taken a year to rack up 10k, most the miles on weekend day trips. My 2007 was $2k but yeah, I've spent at least another 1k on gear being super cheap: I got my jacket and helmet on CL, and have finally gotten boots after reading horror stories on this forum! |
