That Ninja 400/650 got me thinking...

to when manufacturers made many similar bikes with different size engines. I have been a fan of Honda since 10 years old. Probably because I had a Hon and they were the closest dealer to my house. Anyway back in 1974 they made 7 different street bikes. CB750 (4 cyl), CB550 (4 cyl), CB450 (2 cyl), CB360 (2 cyl), CB350 (4 cyl), CB200 (2 cyl), and CB125 (1 cyl). Except for the 550 and 750 all of these also came in a CL model which was a scrambler with high pipes and higher bars. Don't think I would want to ride one on a bumpy trail though. Thats quite a bit of bikes that varied in size only for the most part as these bikes were all "standards". They probably built a bike in every price range and at a size anyone could feel comfortable. Also unfortunately there were probably only guys riding then (99%) anyway they do have an attractive woman on the CB125 with a helmet, boots and no other gear. If anyone is interested there is a slide show of all 1974 Honda brochures at http://twin-pines-farm.smugmug.com/g...51/1/237674478 with a password of redrider. Its a pretty cool collection of old bike literature and brings me back to age 10.

i love those old hondas....i was just wondering the other day, why they stopped making the smaller bikes, like 350, 400, etc...it seems like people still like, and want them....i am always looking on craigslist...have found a lot of old cb's lately....i have a cl200...would really like to get a bigger one...there have been so many lately, just don't have the cash to throw down on one...i really like the style of the cb super sports...i tried to find the album you were talking about, with all the 74's...not sure which one it is...i couldn't find it

Older bikes are going for crazy prices in recent years.
