2012 Ninja 650r - no slip on option?

A co-worker of mine just picked up his first bike. A 2012 Ninja 650 with 1,000 miles on the odometer.

He wants to put on a louder exhaust. Instinctively, I just told him to pick up a slip on exhaust.

After a day or two, he tells me that they don't make slip on exhausts for it?!

What?!?!?!

also, here at least, they've started giving tickets for loud/aftermarket exhausts.

Nope no slip on. Also if he wants to keep the clean stock look this is the only one.

Thanks for your concern. The state we ride and work at has no noise ordinance when it comes to motorcycle exhausts. I think we can even ride with no pipe on.

the 2012 aparently is different from the rest. the can and headers are one piece, so if you want to use a slipon you would have to cut it or something

but seriously. loud exhausts are annoying on street bikes. remember that harley episode of south park? brahbrubrubrubrubrubrubr. being loud doesn't help you, it just makes you look like you're trying to show off

You can use just about any slipon that will fit the midpipe, you just might have to make a custom mount bracket. Not really hard either, a piece of aluminum stock, a jig saw with a metal blade, a bit of critical thinking and some time. Sand and paint as needed or powder coat it.
