How do you manage to fit a set of clothes in a MULE? I picked one up for mountain biking, only to realize that with the 3L bladder full, the main cargo compartment is basically useless

I have a Tarmac

Laptop can go in the back pocket, has the upper for storage, and the lower is for a camera.... I don't ride wiht my laptop so that is where I put my hydration pack. It is water resistant and there is rubber lining the zippers to make sure things inside stay dry.

Haha, I pack very compact. Lots of weekend hiking trips in my (entirely too) distant past. But yeah, I was a bit dissapointed with the cargo capacity, especially since it's too narrow to fit a standard-sized binder. It's still my 'riding pack' and has supplied me through weekend rides, when loaded with maximum efficiency.

I have this one too! =] I like it a lot.

I also have a Chrome Metropolis. I like it because it lies flat on the back when empty but holds a ton fully loaded. The chest strap also helps stabilize it so it doesn't flap around.

I'm pretty sentimental about this bag as it's gone everywhere with me the last six years including the summit of Mt. Fuji. As a result though I can also testify to it's durability and water resistance.

I got the Timbuk2 bag and I love it. Now don't think it is super big, the helmet I was talking about was a cycling helmet. So it isn't really huge. They list the dimensions on the site.

It holds to me very securely, plus it is very comfortable. I highly recommend it. It is also lined so it is water proof. Yet the corners can be exposed, so it is still recommended to have a few freezer bags in there just in case to hold the important stuff. I love it.

I had the Joe Rocket Blaster Pack. It was kinda bulky. I'm thinking about trying that Icon Squad pack.

Just got a Ful Overton cheap at Target. Waiting for the snow to melt (and the roads to clean up) to be able to ride again.

Needed something to carry stuff back and forth to work and the cheap "messenger" bag wasn't working. This one has lots of pockets, and nice padded straps.

Wish they had this color though.

Instead of a backpack, I use a Bell tank bag that Wal-Mart used to sell. I carry it EVERYWHERE (srsly; it's my man-purse), so it's getting pretty darned ratty.

Now, I DO also own a backpack, but it's not motorcycle-specific. I got one of those w/ an optional hydration bladder (both also from Wal-Mart), but I've only used it a few times (cross-country move; a couple trips to the grocery store when I knew I couldn't load up and strap on w/ the tanks bag alone; once to carry my rain gear to work for the ride home later; etc). I've commuted on my Ninjette daily since getting it in Summer of '08 and rarely need the backpack.

@Keenan - how's the Megalopolis fit while on the bike? I've been contemplating getting the slightly newer Megalopolis Aero and am wondering if you've had any problems with the tail of the bag hitting the passenger seat/tail cowl. Also, how tall are you if I might ask?

back pack

Patagonia Lightwire. I use it to commute to work. Internal padded pocket for the computer and lots of pockets inside and out.
