Cars backing up into my ninjette

So, I parked my ninjette behind a pickup truck (more than 4-5 feet away) yesterday and as i'm walking back to her, I see the truck backing up to get out of its spot.

Yup, he backed up into her and she dropped over on the left side.
I got his insurance info, and I've talked to my insurance, so I should be able to get all the money necessary to fix everything. (hopefully soon)

Lesson learned tho, don't park behind any sort of vehicle if you can help it, and try to make your ninjette ultra visible if you have to.

here is what broke:
-my cracked upper fairings cracked even more
-my windshield completely broken (it was already fragile)
-both left turn signals *broken* (light bulbs were fine and signals still work)
-bent clutch lever, still usable, but very uncomfortable
-scratches on the exhaust, fairings and handlebar
-broken passenger pegs

Any tips on what I should do? Or what my insurance will tell me?
I was thinking I might as well get some aesthetic mods to replace what broke. I already bought flushmounts and waiting for them to arrive.

what you should do is find a shop that you trust to fix it before the ins company uses one of their "preferred" shops

that way, you can negotiate a deal with the shop to get you some extra work or some mods instead of just the oem stuff...

That sounds like a good idea. I do happen to have this one shop that my parents have been trusting for years, and I went once there and everything went smoothly.

From what my parents told me, I should go to that shop and get something like a quote from them. The insurance would pay me the amount on that quote i guess?

Any suggestions on what mod I should do?
-I'll be getting the flushmount front turn signals, is there a mod for the back ones to make them look nicer/sleekier?
-any windshield ideas?

My rear turn signals are integrated into the rear brake light; you can look into those. It even flashes 2-3 times when I press the brakes -- it looks cool and improves visibility.
They were installed when I bought my ninjette so not certain about the price.

Hope this helps.

He probably couldn't see it over his truck, your trucks in America are entirely to big for 99.99% of tasks the owners use them for.

Dude, same thing happened to me.

http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=135593

I've replaced radiator, left handlebar, clutch lever, and right footpeg.

I still have frame tabs to unbend for Rearsets. She's overheating almost instantly, I hope the water pump just sucked in some crap and broke... and not my engine.

I hope your repairs are less... complicated.

Good idea! I'll try to look into that. I've been hearing that in California, your turn signals have to be something like 9 inches apart, idk if that would work or not, but I bet it looks good!

Sadly, that is probably true. and for those cars/trucks that can't see behind them all too well, they need to get extra mirrors at the back.
I mean, what if a kid was trying to pick up his ball behind your pick up truck? "Sorry, he shouldn't have been there" won't cut it.

Wow, read your thread. Sorry about that dude. Hope everything turns out good for you. I got lucky that the guy was a chill dude. We're probably going to just let our insurances talk...that's what they're for.
It seems that my damage is almost purely cosmetic. I've ridden more than a hundred miles since the drop, and no problem so far (I replaced a light bulb, and put clear tape over the broken turn signals, so they don't get wet from the fog).

Ha! It's funny, in America you get extremes with teeth. From my experiance..

In California everyone has mechanically straightened and unnaturally whitened rows of ceramic mug like monoliths marching in a row.

In New York everyone has perfectly straight yet coffee yellowed teeth.

In Florida it's a mix between picket fences in desperate need of repair and ostentatious tip ex white beamers.

In Georgia teeth seem purely functional...

I think Americans have unnatural expectations of teeth, the ideal isn't natural, teeth are like dicks, all different shapes and sizes colours and lenghts, so long as they're clean they're good to go!

British people generally have very good teeth since kids have free dental, whitening isn't really done as it's seen as unnatural and pretentious. And teeth are only straightened if it's a problem, a few wonkey teeth aren't going to harm anyone. Adds character!

That's so absurd, it's brilliant.
