Noob question - regarding jetting

Can I re-jet to the default Dynojet settings (3 turns, 98 DJ jet) on my stock exhaust? I plan on adding an Area P exhaust later but would like to ride it with the stock exhaust for now.

(Apologies to the mods as I asked this within one of the other threads but decided to post it on its own thread for visibility...)

You can do what ever ya want with the jetting. Stock bike, just putting in the DJ needles works great. I wouldnt up the jet until the pipe is on thou.

Thank you. But why is it that you don't think I should change the main jet with the stock exhaust? Will I damage something?

If you select the wrong main jet, you can. The question is, why do you think you need to touch the main jet?

rejetting is not a cure all for instant/go fast HP, but rather a means to fix problems that you are having with engine power delivery characteristics.

bigger is not always better.

Thanks. It's just that I'd rather not open up the bike multiple times. I plan on installing sliders and was thinking of doing the re-jet as well. Then later on, I can install the exhaust.

The mains are rich enough with the stock restrictive exhaust.

Just think of it as getting into the top of the carbs once, and then once again for the bottom when the pipe comes in.
