I have the awesome luxury of living only 20 minutes from NewEnough. Anything that is listed as same day shipping can be picked up at their location. If you think they rock when it comes to shipping and customer service you should meet them in person. Super nice! We rode down last week to pick a few things up (gloves and faceshields). The blonde (can't remember her name) heard us coming, saw Terry's black R6 slowing for the turn, pulled the stuff he wanted out and had it on the counter waiting. All they ask is that you call ahead and let them know what you are coming for.

If you haven't ordered from them yet then I enourage you to do so. Also, leave a customer review of whatever you purchased on their website and they will usually email you a discount coupon towards your next order.

Terry's Black 2005 R6, John's Red/White 1999 R6 (78,000 miles !!) and my 2009 250. We chilled out under a tree after chatting with the staff so I decided to grab a quick shot of the three bikes sitting in their parking lot.

I bought this btw in blue:
http://www.newenough.com/street/clos...le_jacket.html

Matches the bike beautifully.

I have:
Helmet:
Shoei rf-1100 great helmet has great fit and finish and the vents actually work. Visor removal also is great.
Scorpion exo-400 wore it for awhile when my head was bigger(think about it), pretty good for a cheaper helmet vents don't really do anything, but i will say that the visors are pretty good at preventing fog. Construction is pretty solid but I don't like how the helmet flexes ever so slightly. shoei is much more solid
Jacket:
Scorpion stinger great jacket and is perforated. It also has a removable liner and all seams are crafted/stitched well
Gloves:
Alpinestars gp-plus gloves very comfortable and the external seams add to the comfort. Seems to be very protective.
Boots:
Joe rocket superstreet boots comfortable but are like a median between a short cuff boot and a full race boot. They seem very protective and are lasting much better than my previous a* one-o-one boot. Anybody want the a* one-o-one a* is going to fix or give me new ones I'll give you a deal
Knee and shin armor:
Icon field armor-knee and shin very good and fits well. I recommend them if you like your knees
And one day if I get into track riding a nice two piece suit from a*

Here's what I have so far:

Shoei RF-1100 Hadron TC-6 helmet
Forcefield back, chest, and knee protectors
Held Phantom gloves
Sidi Vertigo Air boots
Alpinestars S-MX Airflo jacket
Alpinestars Street Cargo Pants (not pictured)

If I knew of the different RF-1100 graphics available to the EU, I might have tried to get one. I think the white Hadron looks pretty nice: http://www.feridax.com/product/W-8fe...adron_tc9.html

The Icon pack is awesome, I amaze myself with the amount of stuff you can cram into it. Receptive as all hell, I'll post a pic of how reflective it is when I ge home.

My closet is definately a value for money, hot weather build.

Helmet: HJC IS-Max. Why? I wear glasses, like the flip up access. $179.

Jacket: Joe Rocket Phoenix 5.0 Why? It is 90 degrees year round here, mesh a must. $139.

Gloves: Joe Rocket Pheonix 4.0. Why? I loved the jacket and got sucked into matching hot weather gear. The gloves aren't great, tbh. $39.

Pants: Joe Rocket Phoenix 2.0 Overpants. Why? Fits with jacket, warm weather, cheap, needed overpant for work commute. $120.

Leg Protection: Newly purchased Icon Field Armor knee/shin guard under pants. $65.

Boots: Vega Merge. Why? Great value for very comfortable boots that breathe well in the heat. $79.

Tank Bag: Joe Rocket Hammerhead. Why? The right size for what I need. $59.

I'm jealous of your gear! I'd love to hear about the Dainese Air Drakes. I just put in an order for some Alpinstars summer pants, but got a call they were out of stock. Before I look elsewhere, i was considering the Air Drakes. Thoughts?

The Air Drakes are great -- they've got flaps that open at the knees to keep things cool. I use them all the time, down to 38F earlier this week (before I dropped the bike), up to a high of 100F this summer in suburban Philly. I typically wear them as pants rather than overpants, though I think their hip protection is light -- just a basic foam -- so I often use Alpinestars Bionic Freeride Shorts underneath. Other than that, the knee and shin armor stays in place. It just works!

Thanks. I think as I replace my gear over time, I'm going to look at Dainese and REV'IT gear more closely. Both are just really good quality. When I was looking at Joe Rocket gear at my local shop, the sales person tried to upsell Dainese stuff and I just thought they were trying to make an extra buck. That may be true, but I regret now not paying more attention.

Sharing my gear...

Hey Everyone, I'm new to theses parts... actually I'm new to motorcycles in general I did a ton of research and decided to go the route of buying my gear before my bike. Figured I'd avoid the temptation to ride before I was prepared. I'm extremely happy with the quality of my gear, the only functional mod I plan to make is to the Knox Chest Protector. I'm already in the process of figuring out what I'm going to buy in "Gear: Round 2." But that will have to wait until after I've brought my 250

Let me know if you have any questions about the gear, just keep in mind none of this has been tested on bike. Just worn at home and around town to break it in.

Shoei RF-1100 Black - Med.
CW-1 Spectra Shield - Silver
CW-1 Clear Shield (not shown in picture)
RS Taichi RSJ826 Perforated Leather Jacket - White
Knox Chest Protector - Newest Model
RS Taichi GP Evo Gloves - Black
Shift Lowdown Jeans - Indigo
Knox Cross Armored Shorts
Knox Cross Knee Armor - Long
Shift Fuel - Street Shoes (purchased separate from everything else for my MSF course, FIRST thing on the list to be upgraded)

Original KBC Force helmet, which I don't wear due to age. Original Scorpion when the 700 was top shelf, also a souvenir. Now wear a gifted Icon.
For clothes Vanson or Sidi cover me. I'm in the tropics so no high price gear from either necessary, thankfully.

A balaclava in Oceanside, California? You must go on LONG rides away from home. I'm jealous of that jacket, though. Love it.

When I go to work in the morning it is between 30-40 degrees... I think that warrants a balaclava... I do also like to go on long rides through the canyons though...lol.

Thanks for the props on the jacket... I love it too, although I need something for colder weather so that I don't have to wear multiple layers for those 30-40 degree mornings...lol.

Here is a picture. I wear all this stuff everytime I ride. I am thinking about getting a new one piece since my old one was wore out. It was a AGV brand suit. I don't reccomend them. Good price but the fit sucked.

Nice. I just ordered the T-Pro Forcefield knee armor. I'm back and forth on whether to get a back pad or a back protector w/straps. I like the harnesses, but they're pretty expensive.

I'm looking for some good leg protection under jeans, do you think those would work well?

I was seriously considering the same thing with a harness vs back protector vs back insert. What made the decision for me was that a harness would be a PITA to put on and it would still need a jacket for abrasion resistance. I didn't get just get a back protector because it was cheaper for the level 2 back pad and armor than for just the back protector. So I ended up getting the jacket insert set so I could have the most protection at the lowest cost. Plus, it should bed easier to don and doff.

Yeah, I believe the Forcefield armor will do nicely under jeans because it's easy to flex without getting too bulky and won't hurt when you walk. I've read of the Icon and others digging into the knees while standing straight or walking. I do need to get some reinforced jeans, but I really hate how they all look.

I'm still back and forth on the back protection. One one hand, the insert would make it really easy when putting the jacket on and off. On the other hand, the strapped armor wouldn't shift around in case of a crash, where the back pad may move.

I wear them everytime I ride. Used to wear Alpinestars Street Cargo Pants (too big), then regular jeans, now have Sartso jeans.

Regarding the back protector harness, I wear one everytime and don't think it's cumbersome to put on, or when it's on. Just another opinion. If I found a chest protector/back protector "vest" that fit, I'd wear that. lol

On-topic, purchased the RS-Taichi T-Raps. Fits well, satisfied with the quality.

CThunder-blue, have you looked at Sartso jeans? They mostly look like regular jeans.

Never heard of Sartso. I'll look into them. Most jeans I see have these huge leg openings as if I have telephone poles for legs. While my legs aren't chicken legs, I prefer a straight cut. It would be nice if MC jeans weren't overpriced.

If you're wearing a jacket that has CE armored shoulders and elbows then the seperate back protector would be the route to go (since most jacket stock back inserts are crap). That would give you the best overall protection because it would stay in place and extend coverage over the coccyx.

As for the leg protection I have been looking at the forcefield strap on leg protectors but I intend to use them with regular jeans. Since regular jeans offer no real abrasion resistance I'm not sure it would be a good combo for me. So I need to figure out if there is anything that offers real protection under jeans or if I'll have to get some overpants...

Well, a harness is a hassle to put on such as the extreme adventure harness or similar. A stand alone back protector is really easy to use (from what I've seen) and I would have seriously considered a back protector (like the sub 4) if I could figure out an affordable way to protect my shoulder, arm, and back and stay on budget. But the sub 4 and the jacket armor would've blown my budget.

The last (and only) time I went down I was skidding across the asphalt on my right arm/shoulder. Although the Wilson's leather jacket held up surprisingly well, it would have been nice if had some armor in it...
