I don't think so....the ninja 1400 has 203 HP. However that bike having that much HP out of a Twin is impressive, it probably has more torque then the 1400.
Also, that bike definitely isn't street legal. I'm sure theres some small manufacturer out there that probably makes 250 hp race bikes.

However, I just noticed the link above the video, and it explains the bike in the video. It IS a race model, with racing exhaust and slicks and no working lights. They do sell the same bike street legal though. And they also sell a 211HP supercharged version, which would put it closer to possibly being the most powerful production bike. But as for the bike in the video, which is all I saw at first...it's not street legal and not the most powerful But they apparently make something better!

There is a company here called Rev-Tech that has been kicking out 500hp turbocharged Hayabusa's for quite some time....and yes....they are still street legal....sort of.

Buell 1190RR has been tested to 185 horsepower at the rear wheel and without the benefit of the ram air induction, the 1125RR has been tested to about 170 horsepower. http://www.erikbuellracing.com/motorcycles/1190RR/ & http://www.erikbuellracing.com/motorcycles/1125RR/ Both are twins. Estimate of the 1190R on the track is closer to 200 HP at full speed due to the ram air. Neither of these are road bikes, both would have been production bikes if Harley didn't mess it up (obviously de-tuned by emissions controls). The engines were production level at the shut down time, the running gear was production. His non-compete runs out in less than a year so you will see something similar from any motor company willing to work a deal, we keep betting on BRP and a new Rotax engine but still likely a twin or maybe a triple.

Just makes me think about the kind of power some of the bigger bikes might be putting out in 10 years....
I mean, my buddy had a 2001 Mustang GT that was considered fast as hell at the time and it only put out 260 hp. The 2011 GT is now rated at 412hp.

Ummmm hate to break the news to you but a 2001 Mustang GT will actually get beat by a Taurus SHO totally stock, or by the Camaro and Firebirds of 2001 easily. The Mustang has been underpowered for years now and in 2011 they are finally going to fix that. I mean it's pretty sad when your "muscle" car with a V8 has less power then a family car (Taurus SHO) using a supercharged V6. My 1987 Trans Am had that much power from a 305 and the 2001 Grand Prix with the supercharged 3.8l V6 had 280. As for powerful production bikes. Don't forget there are the Boss Hoss bikes using 376ci V8's out there that are fully in production making over 445hp and 445ft-lbs of torque. POWER!!!!! A 01 GT runs the quarter at 13.9 A 96 SHO says a quarter at 15.5 A 88 Transam says a quater at 15.7 I didn't look up firebird and camaro times , but I know they were right in the same area because we used to take the car to Moroso drag strip every month or so for some legal racing. It was NOT easily beat by either car unless you are talking about the transam and SS which compare to the cobra, not the GT. (however today its the GT and SS that compete) Definitely faster cars, but it's still no slouch. And even still, an 01 camaro SS only came with 325 HP...todays SS has 426 hp. And The average econo car had 110 hp, now they come with 145+ usually. Point was just that power is increasing faster and fast, think what a bike will potentially have in 10 years.

True, but in case you forgot, about 10+ years ago they put a cap on the top speed of production bikes thus ending the speed wars between Kawasaki and Suzuki right before Kawasaki's newest ninja at that time was going to take it back. A magazine review team actually took the Hayabusa and the Ninja, removed the restrictions on them and tested them side by side to see who would have won the title that year. In the end the Ninja proved to be faster that year after taking off the restrictions.
Now, does anyone know if they've removed that top speed cap on bikes or is it still in place? |

Well a 99 Busa has 172 HP, and the 2010 model has 203 hp. Even with limiters, companies will continue to push bigger and bigger number, if anything just to claim to have the fastest bike. I'm not saying in 10 years we will have a 500 hp Busa, but I don't see 250 being far out of the question...I'd say at least 230.
The limiter stopped bikes at 186 (though I don't know what the difference between 186 and 210 is on a bike...your pretty much dead in either case without extreme luck). According to Wikipedia, the limit was an agreement between the big 4 at 300kmp to stop speed wars. Nothing is official and no one HAS to use a limiter, but from what I have read, they still use the limiter. The bike this topic talks about claims a 310km top speed which is about 193 mph.

Kawasaki's ZX-14 only makes 203 HP in their dreams.
Both the busa and the ZX-14's claimed numbers are rather inflated. An 08 ZX-14 makes 161.67 rwhp, with your average 15% drive train loss that only puts it at 185.9 hp at the crank. Not even close to the claimed 203. 08 Busa makes 5.1 more rwhp then the ZX-14, believe it or not (both done on the same dyno). Numbers vary dyno to dyno but they will all come close to this for whp on these two bikes, unless their dyno/operator is completely out of whack. |

The bikes are supposed to put down around 190 hp and get a 10-12 hp boost as the ram air intakes gains pressure at speed (which works considering that extra hp doesn't do much till 100+ anyways on something that light). So 186 at the crank isn't far off of 190, then add the advancing power from the intake any it will get close to the 200 mark.
I'm sure the 170 hp number back in 99 was probably calculated similarly as well. Then theres of course the crazies out there with turboes hitting 500+ hp. And to think, we all do just fine with 30 hp :-o

Y2K bike by MTT. 320hp@wheel 425 ft/lbs torque. Street fighter edition available that has 420hp. Redline is 52000 RPM. No that is not a typo for the RPM

I think the current leaders are (in alphabetical order):
BMW S100RR ~193bhp Ducati Desmosedici RR ~ 210bhp Kawasaki ZX-14R ~ 205bhp V-Max ~200bhp But sadly, the actual winner is the V8 Boss Hoss bike. I think the 427 trikes are over 400bhp with two gears, crazy. |

You can't forget that pretty much all sport bikes these days take advantage of ram air. So this doesn't edge Kawi over the rest for HP, they are merely just the only ones to quote ram air figures. More specifically Kawi is the only of the big four to quote HP figures. Yamaha quotes torque figures on their site though. Not to mention at least to a certain extent ram air can be reproduced on the dyno with fans, which a lot of places will do. However whether or not they did that with the figures I quoted was never mentioned. Basically though, take anything the manufacturers say when it comes to power and weight with a grain of salt. Manufacturers have been overstating hp and understating weight since the beginning of time. It's just a question of to what degree did they do so more often then not. To them it is all about making sales, understandably so. If you want the most powerful production bike currently available, the BMW S1000RR is likely going to be your best bet. One was dyno'd at the shop I frequent and it put down 167 rwhp. However the bike cut out at an earlier rpm due to it's fancy computers not liking being dyno'd it would seem. Other places have dyno'd them fully and found them to be making around 183 rwhp. Which would put it a hair above 210 at the crank with 15% drive train loss. So it would seem BMW understated their hp figures oddly enough. |

I already posted the Boss Hoss with the LS3 6.2l (376ci) that's running 445hp/445ft-lbs. Doesn't anyone actually read these posts unless it says Kawi, ninja, busa, gixxer, or r6?
