Who makes the best sportbike?

ive always hear people talking/agruing about who makes the best sport bike. Which one do yall think is the best? IMO most of the 600s are pretty much the same except for ergonomics and looks i guess it just depends on what you like. [Note i didnt put ducati in there because they outperform all 4 by a significant amount]

LOU : Simply answer - Yes. That goes for Aprilia and MV Agusta too (in my opinion - Triumph is a sweet bike).

I am happy with what i have but its always important to have goals and in general i love motorcycles and admire ones i dont have.

As much as I want a 650r, every time I go to the dealer to sit on one, I walk away even more content with my 250r. I know it doesn't normally happen this way, but it is very affirming of my lil' Ninjette.

The term 'Big 4' of motorcycles should refer to the major Japanese companies in the poll.

Then there's KTM, BMW, Aprilia, Ducati, and Triumph.

I don't care for the rest of 'em.

Which is surprising because the gsxr seems to be one of the most popular. i guess then if a mod could change the name of the thread to "who makes the best sportbike" that would be great. it also may make help to get more votes

It's a tie between Suzuki and Yamaha for me for general-use-wise. Kawasakis are obviously good (as we all know) but their bigger bikes don't appeal to me so much. My dad used to work at a Honda shop where he'd fix the bikes and they were always having problems with the fairings coming off of them and other problems. I'm not saying that other bikes don't have that but he assures me that the people who made the bike (it was stock) had no idea what they were doing. So it was basically between Suzuki and Yamaha for me. I know a guy with an R6 who loves it but I've always loved Gixxers the most because it was the first sport bike I ever really read about, so I went with that. If it weren't for Gixxers I would've never found this forum

Edit: Whoops, kind of misread the title. In terms of who makes the best street bike, it's probably got to be Yamaha (IMO at least)

yeah for the longest time i really liked the way the gsxrs looked but those new cbrs look slick. i agree though the ninja is and outstanding bike but im not much for the bigger kawis except i like the undertail exhaust on the 07 zx6r

I don't know why the GSXR is so popular. I'm sure it's great, but it seems like everyone and their brother is talking about it and the R6 and CBR doesn't get the same kind of praise.

I'm a CBR kind of guy. I don't know why but they appeal to me more than anything. I don't even have my first bike yet and I can already tell my next one is going to be a Honda lol

Where I live there are a ton of R6s and almost no Gixxers

There are so many variables and different opinions. I don't buy that Ducati is the "all supreme" sport bike manufacturer. Every one of the 600cc sport bikes has good points and weak points. It really comes down to (A) what you intend to use the bike for and (B) personal preference.

The Dayton 675 SE that I had was a rocket. It had a full Arrow exhaust, custom map, and Triumph Speedshifter. It would FLAT OUT eat any other 600 for lunch.

But I voted for Yamaha (since I couldn't vote for Triumph).

Went for Honda. I love my Ninja, but everything Honda I've ever owned is rock solid!

If Honda made a twin 250, I'd be all over that in a heartbeat!

Maybe when I have money to spend, I'd pick up a VFR800.

Out of the choices, I went with the Kawasaki, assuming we are talking about 600s, based on reviews. Most of the magazine testers still prefer the Kawi to the new Suzuki or at the very least, they rate them equally. I have ridden neither unfortunately, so this is all hearsay.

I also decided to choose Kawi because I have been very happy with my '08 ZX-6R, though again, I have nothing else to compare it to.

it would be interesting to hear from a group of people who have owned or spent a significant amount of time riding all 4. so far honda seems to be popular which is strange because it seems to me that its the least talked about. hopefully though well get a good amount of votes to see which one really is the most popular

I've owned all 4, but race Honda and Kawasaki. I've riddden track with many of the "others" since I teach at trackdays, and raced some real off ones back in the day (like a Norton). The Ducati wasn't anything special to write home about, it was nice, but not that nice. If I had to buy a new bike tomorrow, I would probably get a KTM RC8R, it is a massive screamer.

I love the Kawa 250, and the Honda 600RR. My street bike is a Honda CBR954, which, IMHO, is one of the best bikes Honda ever built.

But really, any of the "Big 4" japanese bikes are pretty similar, I would take any of them.

Kawasaki may win out the raw performance in the 600s, but a lot of people I know swear by Honda. They make good machines that last if you take care of them. "Best" is a pretty vague term lol. Also the cbr600rr look hawttt

you folks aren't going to like to hear this, but of all the four Japanese manufacturers, I put Kawasaki last. I've never owned a Kawi where there was a comparable bike in its class.

Each have their good and bad points Its really what you want .
my only real experience with Ducati was back in the early 1960's . We were always waiting for the only Ducati in our group to catch up he spent a lot of time picking up parts they fell off and reinstalling them Exhaust was the worst. . That's the truth.. rest of us rode Honda 305 Super Hawks, HD sporters Triumph Bonneville or the TT and a couple BSA ad 1 Norton. Yes Iam old

. The Honda Super Hawk was back then like the 250 Ninja today . weight and HP very close. 2 cyl red line around 9000 and around 28HP top speed 100 to 102 We made the 350cc and cam them, Front 1 tooth down Then gave the bigger bikes all the could handle in the twisties and acceleration.

I think Kawi is doing the best (of the Japanese makes) right now. The ZX-6 is sweet and the ZX-10 is a rocket ship with traction control! However, if we specified of all time, I would say Honda. Honda made some great sportbikes that had great performance and solid reliability. One day I will own an RC51.
