When do you think the CBR600RR is going to have a body makeover?
So I've been creaming over the zx-6r lately and am shopping around for my next bike . The only other bike that caught my eye was the CBR600 but it's body styling looks like it has not been changed for a couple of years. Do you think an update is near? I saw the 2010 model in white with the black ink blots on it and that bike looks soooo hot but I want to know if I should wait for an update

The CBR looks awesome, partly because it is fairly simple. The 2010 Leyla has more than just polka dots on it, look closer...a girls face on the side, really Honda? I thought they were above catering to the squids... lol.
I somewhat agree however. There is a sharpness the R6 and zx6r have. I think the R6 still looks the best/most aggressive even though it has been the same since 2006 |

Jesse- Just looks a bit dated compared to the R6 and ZX6R, thats all. If I'm spending a good amount of money on a new bike I would want it to be the "new talk of the town" not old news. Just a conscious thing. |

So far I have only sat on the ZX6R, my local dealer is a kawi, suzuki, yamaha. they don't carry hondas. My interest in the CBR's is fairly new. I'll have a find another dealer that carries the hondas. The ZX6R that I sat on was a 2010 model I believe and man that thing is sexy! I really like the way it feels. I didn't have the nerve to ask for a test drive because I'm always afraid of dropping dealer bikes on a test drive

Do you want to ride the bike? Or is being "seen" on it good enough for you?

every bike is old news in a year or two anyways. buy what you like, what fits, and what is appropriate for your skill level and use; and don't worry about anyone else

If that's the case, you might as well go with a Ducati, Aprilla, or KTM Any of those will give you the 15 minutes of fame your conscious craves for . That is until another local rider buys a bigger and badder bike than you.

There is always going to be someone who has something bigger and badder untill u get into the crazy customizations usually on the liter bikes. Dont worry about what people think get a bike that u like and want

Despite your lack of a real reason for wanting a makeover, it's a moot point anyway. Half litre bikes aren't selling like full litres so you won't be seeing much in "change" anytime soon. And if Honda DID change the 600 someone already mentioned that front end of the 1000. Kawasaki is king of the hill with the ZX-6R, no brag just fact. As far as the 600RR Honda, it did get some engine tweaks (mid-range) I believe and I like the fact they left the exhaust centered. These in-lines are all close enough in testing that it really comes down to who's driving in many cases. If you like the Honda get it, just make sure you picture yourself on all of the available colors etc. before purchase.

I knew someone was gonna say this. That's not what I meant.. Being a computer engineer I have always been interested in technology and this is the mindset I have with the electronics/gadgets I buy. It's just my personality and my preference to have the "latest and greatest." Anyone that knows me knows damn well that I'm not the kind of person that gives a **** what anyone else thinks of me or my appearance on/with other material possessions.

Don't get caught up in the whole obsolesence thing, barring a feature you really want that's due to come out. It still comes down to the rider. I understand your feeling, prices aren't cheap and economy stinks. Duc keeps prices the same for 2011 and adds more power or better brakes. Buy what you like at the time and enjoy it.

there's nothing on the planet that can touch the ZX-6 at $9999 right now.

I'd pay the extra $1500 for a new GSX-R750, personally.
$10 grand is a reasonable deal, but if I'm already in for that much, then I'll be willing to go a bit more for what I would argue is a better overall street bike. Or, I might just buy a used Ducati 848, because I'm a sucker.

Not at $9999 but if $ wasn't a factor, and this point holds more true on the track than on the street, the new 2011 GSX-R600 definitely challenges the ZX-6R for the 600cc crown. In fact, in a couple of the shoot-outs the Gixxer was standing on top of the hill when it was all said and done with the Kawasaki right behind it. At my local Suzuki dealership, the new Gixxer models were on sale at a $9999 MSRP.

The lack of a slipper clutch is the one thing that needs to be addressed - that is the main reason I'm not one one right now. Test rode a '09 and went a little crazy down shifting without blipping because I was sure the bike had one. I slowly rode it back to the dealership.

Sport Rider shows CBR600 as being ready for upgrade. Yet scores are tight. You rode back to dealer slowly due to lack of slipper clutch???

With my heart pounding from the fear of the long *ss skid mark I left behind - figured going back slow would give my heart time to slow down.

Slipper clutches, traction control, ABS, electric starters on small 2 stroke dirt bikes. What ever happened to a good bike being one that didn't break down on the ride? Not saying these things don't have their place, I have ABS myself, but whats next, self steering when a corner is encountered? FWIW 848 and standard 1198 don't have slipper clutches.

FIM world supersport last year?? 1 - Kenan Sofuoglu, 2 - Eugene Laverty. IOM TT 600 class? Obviously modified bikes but you can buy the mod kits from Honda or Ten Kate if you need world championship power. For us humans we all know its the rider as all the bikes are so close.
