Daytona Bike Week

Anyone going to Daytona starting this weekend?
I am going for demo rides, there are several vintage and custom bike shows, plus a cafe racer show. I sure hope it is warm. I just hate to see the bar girls suffering in the cold. I need bling for the bikes. There are about a million vendors, or at least a few thousand.
Thursday is the Flat track race.

I'm going to try and make it. Going to Jerry Wood Auction, Supercross, Flat Track, 200. I might miss the bars and crowds though. I'd like to do the CCS races (I did them they first year they had them and it would be nice to do it again).

I'm currently planning to make it down to set up shop with a dyno to do pulls and tunes. Estimated arrival is monday. I'm planning to stop by the flat track races as well as the Daytona 200 while I'm down there.

There's a slight issue due to a tree falling on the trailer that is delaying me, and may potentially prevent me from making it but I think I'll be there.

Please post up if you go to the preview.
I was going over, but I need another bike like I need a hole in the head.

May go down later today, but for sure tomorrow morning for a very full day.

Weather is looking great. Maybe a little rain Sunday. Forecast keeps changing.

Looking forward for some factory demo rides.

Rode a Fat Boy, Sport Glide, and Deluxe today. I got a free ticket to the flat track for demoing the Harleys too. It's like Disney for bikers here. I don't know why everyone doesn't have a Harley or two (or more). They ride great, shift great, stop great for a huge bike.

Supercross tonight!!!!!!!!!!

Had a great day yesterday. Got my free Flat Track ticket. Took a few Harley's for rides, hit all the spots, drank a couple of beers and took in the sights and sounds.
I am heading out in a few minutes for another day of bikes and noise.

Looking forward to the Flat Track Thursday.

I went to Ocala (actually Citra) today to look over a thousand bikes and parts up for auction. I relayed the information to my buddy Dale and he is going to have Jerry bid for us. Nothing really got me excited but there is money to be made.

I suspect there is money to be made. I spend the winters in Florida. I usually trailer two bikes down and return with three. I picked up the 250 Ninja so I am out of room. If I lived here full time and had my NJ shop here I would make some buys. I have a thing for 305 Hondas.
Looks like rain for tomorrow. I need a day off anyway.

i am afraid pictures can't do this thing justice. Just YouTube Daytona bike week 2018.

I woke up early. Washed one of the cars, washed the pool deck and furniture around the pool (this always makes it rain), texted by buddy, Boston Brian and told him I was at the track and doing test rides so he needed to get out to the track ASAP. He said it was raining beachside (he lives 3 blocks away). I replied it was sunny and 85 degrees at the track with no lines and plenty of bikes to be tested. I went back to bed.

Took it easy today. Just went to Destination Daytona. Need some patches sewn on one f my vests. Not much happening there. The wind was a bitch Jan the afternoon.

I swear I am staying home tomorrow to rest my weary legs and sore feet.

Need to put front turn signals on my ninja, and ride the piss out of it.

Last night I tried to get to Main Street. I went by a friends house on John Anderson, then rode down A1A as far as the Ocean Center and gave up because of the traffic, the cold weather, and it was getting dark and I couldn't see the spring breakers flashing me any more.

I just got up 20 minutes ago. I will try again tomorrow. Spring Breakers "oh my"

Looking forward to the races Thursday. I will probably go ride demo Harley's tomorrow. This time I am wearing shoes so my feet can fit on the smaller 750 foot pegs. I really want to ring one out.

Weather has been extremely frigid. Low 70's during the day and even colder at night. I'm really going to have to dress heavy for the Flat track races. I'm not sure how the weather is up north but it couldn't be any worse than here.

I have to dress warm because of the ride home. May be in the high 40's after the race. The ride up the interstate to St Augustine may be a little chilly.

The sun is out the birds are singing and I bet the spring breakers are out in full force. May need to hit Main Street after the race.

Crazy 200! Two red flags right off the start. They finally brought everyone in, passed out some cards and Danny had the best hand. The rules were no more crashes and just let Danny run away with it. It seemed to work better than a free for all.

The new rides in customs this year is who has the loudest sound system. You could hear these bikes playing rap music for just a little over 5 miles. I couldn't get all the words but I got the meaning. HOES JUST BE HOES!

Thrills and lots of spills. What's wrong with the Harley team? Indian, Kawasaki, and then a Yamaha 1, 2 and 3. Maybe the Harley 750's suck or the riders, but probably both.

The Indian number plate showed them who was boss.

The singles races had plenty of bad wrecks. In the finnals the "Rocket" took out the guy who got the hole shot and then crashed out a couple of laps later.

What happened to the guy who crashed on the jump in the heat races. He did not move from the time he hit the ground until they loaded him. Hope he is ok.

I am old school. I like the sound of the wind and rumble of my exhaust. Leave me to my thoughts. Don't need no hoes and I the bros who think their loud music is of any quality are nuts. I love reving my engine to drown their tunes.

What I really love are the baggers with 3-4 foot front wheels.

I believe he still hasn't moved.

How about the Valentin launch! Rumor has it he went airborn 100 feet before coming to an abrupt stop. Looked like the front brake lever launch, not a high side (although he went seriously high).

Three best rides at the track was the Stage 1 Fat Girl (I mean Boy), Stage 1 Road King, and Jack Daniels Indian Scout. I was hoping Indian would have the Flat Track Replica, I would buy one of those.

I love my Fatboys. I have a 2009 stage II. Did you ride the 750 Screaming Eagle? That thing was fast. I was really surprised. Hurt my back on that damn 48 stage one. I hit that dip on the road behind the airport at high speed and jammed my back. It had a super stiff suspension. I hate the riding position of some of th Harley's. Hands/arms stretched out to reach the bars, butt way back and feet well forward. Your body kind of looks like a C. I guess it is so you look cool, but no way to ride a bike. FatBobs are the same. I rode one with aftermarket pulled back bars and it was nice. Then again just get a Fatboy.

The Show seem better attended this year than last year. The traffic was terrible and the events were crowded. I did see a bunch of Harley riders who looked older than me, and I am 71.

I rode the 750. I asked the girls if it was a girls bike (since it was with the Sportsters). Neither girl understood me. I was impressed but uncomfortable with the foot pegs being too high for me. It did handle better and had more power than I expected.

I don't like the forward controls either. I like my feet under me. The Sport Glide was nice but forward controls take it off my list of favorites. I didn't rode a Fat Boob. I did ride the Fat Ass Boy and it was my favorite along with the Road King (when they had the Stage 1).

I rode like a possessed banshee so dips and bumps were skimmed over. I was passing 6 to 10 other bikes at a time. I can't believe there is never a cop sitting on the other side of the airport. Actually I glad there is never a cop. I'd be bummed if I had to follow the demo riders that are following the leader at a snail's pace.

I have not seen a cop there in the last three years. I hit 100mph a couple of times. Plus blowing bye the Indian safety riders with their little broods in tow.

A guy riding a 48 and I stopped on the back straight away. The 750 Screaming Eagle got him. Quick little bike.

The cops seemed well behaved. I did see them pull over a guy riding up the right lane avoiding traffic.
Did see several on the interstate a couple of times, at the turn-a-rounds, I guess with radar. I think if you were doing under 85 they let you alone. I did see cars pulled over for speeding.

Was the injured rider in the flat track singles race Jeremiah Duffy? Ive done serching but cant find any info at all concerning his status. He is a minor so that may exlain the lack of info. Hope he is OK. Flat track racing is a harsh mistress.

I believe it was in a qualifying singles race. Two guys got tangled over the jump and the guy who stayed down looked like he got ran over. I did not see him move the whole time they attended to him.

I understand the bike that broke in half with the rear tire going flying was a factory Harley. Not a good start for the Harley's.

What was the temp for the 200? Some are trying to figure what happened to Valentin to cause the highside. I thought either a French salute to NASA or practicing jumping the Mexican border wall.

The way I saw it, it looked like something hit the front brake lever and launched him. I could be wrong (not really).

The local Propaganda Post Sport sections states they have deported Valentin Dedise back to France. Accident occurred at dog leg, speed was in excess of 130 mph, motorcycle came in contact with white stripe, bike wiggled, Val overcorrected, was sent flying 40 yards in the air, then tumbled 100 feet before coming to a stop.

I have decided to purchase air bag leathers!

Wow, I'd have thought the paint there would be something that wouldn't cause a bike to slip (like that moto GP paint?)
