Bless her clueless soul

This morning my 94-year-old mother called me, very worried.

She'd been reading about the Waco biker gang shooting nonsense.

She's got it in her head that people will be literally out to get me, because I ride. She wants me to drive my car until things settle down. Even offered to send me $50 for a tank of gas.

I started to try to explain that biker gangs are not representative of motorcyclists in general, but decided it'd be better to just shut up...

Thanks for your concern, Mom!

Very nice of her.

A shame because many people will associate anyone who rides with that news.

I have ridden my entire life, when asked or commented to about being a "biker" I am quick to explain that if you have to label me please consider the term "motorcyclist".

She is right! It's not other bikers that are trying to kill you those.

oh my goodness.

the only thing worse would be if her granddaughter were to start riding motorcycles. Back in her day, only hoods and gang members road motorcycles.

Harley riders were the lowest scum of the earth, Indian riders were even worse.

Do all your mothers say this: "it's chilly out, put on another layer". Walk out the door and it's like 75 degrees out.

I always associate that word with 'complete & utter killjoy wanker' usually puttering around on a white dullville 5 below the speed limit...

I prefer not to label or judge but everything is up for interpretation based on personal experience.
