I also think your a bit misinformed about what the ZX-14 is. It's not the step above the ZX-10, it's a machine that was built to keep up with a liter bike when 2-up. Which it still does 7 years later.

The big bikes are known for their arm ripping torque. At 5K rpms they make more torque than most bikes on the market regardless of make/model/size/style.
Not trying to criticize, your one bike makes more hp than all my bikes combined, just thought the 14 was capable of more.

And yeah it's not a bike that's designed to compete with a liter bike, but it was designed to compete directly with the 'busa. Which was the fastest production bike at one time I do believe.

Can you tell me it bugs me when people base their opinion of a bike on nothing but the peak power output number? I ride a bike with 30 hp (maybe) for goodness sake. But the mid-range is smooth and pulls right through rpm's that are useful on my bike.
Only reason I would have a bike like the zx-14 is so I could brag about my dyno numbers and quarter mile times. So in this case, at least to me, it is all about hp.

Comparing results from one dyno to another isn't very helpful. One might show 175 another might show 188 and another might show 160.

But the peak hp is completely irrelevant on a 14. It's shockingly comfortable, handles better than anyone would expect for a big bike (on a track you won't out-corner supersports but on the street it's more than capable) and the torque.. oh my the torque that only comes from displacement (or forced induction). Ride one and you'll see.

You can keep your peak hp at 13k+ rpm's, i'll take my 50% more torque through most of the rev range.

I can attest to this... There was an older guy on a 14 at my last track day, I was slightly quicker than him but he didn't have a problem keeping fairly close behind me. On my last session I could barely pass him in the corners and there was no way I could pass that beast in the straights so I just backed off and stayed behind him for that session and it wasn't a problem at all.
