Help, fuel leak.

Story,
Bike has not run in about 5 months. Went to turn it on wouldn't start or even crank. No big deal. Replaced the battery the next day and it started just fine. Rode it around the block a couple times make sure everything was okay. Didn't notice any issues. Well the next day, I go to turn it on, only cranks won't start. Well thinking it might be bad gas again. Went through this about a year and half ago. Well after removing the gas tank I noticed that the Petcock kept leaking not normal from the last time I did this.

My question is could a Petcock leak into the air filter. The reason I'm asking is because when I pulled the gas tank I noticed it leaking fuel still to the ground. So I was checking around all fuel hoses look good. I then check the air filter and it's filled with gas, the air box. After it has been mt out the bike is running without any gas except from the air filter box. Not sure how else to mt out the gas out of the air box.

If the Petcock is still leaking, I'm guessing I have to replace it. Do y'all think that will fix everything else.

Ps I have fuel all over my garage floor now. Not fun and it's nauseating.

Any suggestions. Thanks

Welcome AJ!

You can try to rebuild it or it might be just as easy to replace it. An educated guess is the the petcock not operating properly and flooding your carbs and then draining on your floor.

Thanks man. Looks like I'll be replacing it. Just was wondering if there was anything else to look out for sense it's already opened up.

Well, could be just about anything but seems to be the year of busted petcocks I guess.

Since your there, you might want to shim and desnorkle. If you really want to get into it you could ensure the carbs/jets are clean and clear by cleaning them. 5 months is a long time to sit without being ran, otherwise a visual check and wipe down should do.
