2010 ninja 250 roaring toyz lowering link problem

i've read the diy on the roaring toys lowering links. i've installed them on my g/f 2010 ninja but even on the highest hole the bike is way to low at which the kick stand won't even hold the bike upright. i've also try it on the same hole which is displayed on the picture in the diy and the bike is even lower. i'm wondering if any1 else has had this problem and whether or not the links are different from the 08 to 2010. as i'm to understand there should be a stock setting on the roaring toys links as well but the 1st on the roaring toys link is at least 1 inch futher then the sock links.

sounds like your lowering it.. i have mine on the 2nd to last hole and it still stands up fine on the stock stand, but now on the last hole.. it barely stands up unless on perfectly flat ground, and even then its standing almost straight up.

you can see in this thread .. http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showt...t=roaring+toyz the pic of the lowering link, the holes to the left will lower it, to the right raise it.

i just tried it again cause it only take 2 sec to change them. on the very top hole, the hole closest to the other hole the kick stand won't even hold the bike up. with it down it's past the 90 degrees so it will fall over. every hole further to the left lowers it even more to which i can't even remove the jack from under the bike.

mine is a 2011.. not sure whats going on with yours, on the first hole its not dropped much at all, and you can go as far as the 4th hole and still be ok on the kick stand, the last hole ( lowest drop ) is the only one with a issue that ive seen. and my front is lowered a inch also.

i purchased them brand new from the kawasaki dealer. here are the pics.
picture with the kick stand down the bike is past 90 degrees. theres also the picture of the factory height and the new height at the highest setting. any other hole the bike gets even lower. at the highest setting the bike lowers about 3 inchs. the rear wheel almost hits the fender and if i road it i'm sure it will hit over bumps

I don't have a lowered bike, so I'm only guessing here, but in the pics you attached, it would seem you are at the max lowest setting, not the highest. If you set it to the far left hole of the row with 3 holes, shouldn't that be your max height setting?

1 2 3
O\O\O\=====================(O)
O\O
4 5

So to get the bike to sit as high as possible, wouldn't you want to be in the #1 position?

Take a pic of the bike from the back with nobody on it. I mean it sounds like your just not liking the position of the kickstand with the link but it does change how it stands . But like I said mine sits fine on the 4th hole. Sits different for sure but is stable . That's why they make a kick stand for the bike to go with the link. As for rubbing , most likely it will rub on any setting past the 2nd hole. Either need to adjust the preload or ..i dunno ..also is the front dropped ? Not sure how much of a role that has to play in how it sits as I lowered the front before lowering the rear..

I'll have to measure mine tomorrow . I know on the 5 th hole I can't drive it cause the bottom of the shock would smack the ground on almost any size bump in the road.

Benson - it looks to me like you have them in the lowest possible setting - ie lowering the bike the most... what happens when you put it on the center of the 3 holes - that should make it a little higher. Even on that setting I have to be very careful with where I leave it because there is not much angle to the kick stand. I usually pull it over towards the kick stand and it settles down a bit more... RT does sell an adjustable kick stand for this very reason, but it would be cheaper and easier just to get yours cut down I think...

going by the picture he has them in the highest setting. So maybe 1/2" lowered. Each hole represents 1/2" I believe.

i purchased the bike brand new from the dealer. on the hole i have it on right now i know it's the highest setting cause i tried every other hole and the bike gets lower and lower to which point the rear wheel is touching the fender. it's not that i don't like the where the kick stand is. i got no problem getting a kick stand if i need it. it's that the bike is way to low on the highest setting. i only want to lower it an inch just so my g/f can flat foot the bike. now i'm wondering weather the package was labled wrong or something cause i shouldn't have this much problem with this kit as many of u have lowered your bikes with the same kit

Yeah something does seem right .. on the lowest setting it is low, undriveable IMO .. but all others progressively get higher As you go up the holes. Is the susp really soft on your bike? How many miles ?

suspension seems fine but i don't think it's the problem. bike only has 4000km maybe about 2500 or so in miles so still pretty new. but can u do me a favor and measure your dog bone. what is the distance from the 2 holes closer together. i'm sure it has to be the wrong kit

well here are some measurements.. the actual black roaring toyz link is just about 9" long from the end to end, yours does kinda look long but may just be the pic. also when my bike is standing up with no rider, i have about 3.5" of clearance from the ground to the bottom of the shock, thats the lowest part of the shock were the link bolts too, again thats on the 4th hole.

alright so thats the problem. i've already returned the part but on the internet it even says for the 08-2010 links it's 14 inch from end to end which is differnet from yours. but i measure my stock links and it's 6 1/2 so yah the 1st hole on yours is stock height and gets lower from there. so i'm gonna talk to the dealer, they may have it label wrong.

so was your link 14"? yeah each hole is 1/2" so the first hole should be 1/2" lower.

i'm not sure wat the link measurment was cause i returned it but i know it wasn't 9 inches like the links you have. also considering your 2 closest holes are 6 1/2 inches away and my factory links holes are 6 1/2 inches away the ones i got for sure wasn't 6 1/2 inches away. also if u look at the pitctures the roaring toyz logo on the links the distance between the holes and the lettering on my are alot further away then yours. anyway i'm gonna try and fine the right links

buy the damn roaring toyz kickstand already..i like it even if i'm only lowered one hole...it seems more sturdy(especially once worn in) on the roaring toys over the stock.

if u can't read i've already confirmed that i have the wrong links. the links i got made the bike un ridable even on the highest setting. i've already stated that i would get the kick stand if i needed it but i need the right links 1st. i've talked to a person from roaring toys they said those links are prolly from a zx-10 or a zx-12. they also said the 250 ninja links are suppose to be 8 5/8 from end to end so i'm working on getting the proper links.

Even on the lowest setting my kickstand would still hold the bike upright (though just barely). I couldn't stand to shell out that much for the RT kickstand so I enlisted the help of a couple friends with a welder and we shortened my stock kickstand by about 1.5 inches. Works great! Now my bike won't get blown over by a small gust of wind. Hope you get the right parts the next time around.
