Question Bridgestone Battlax Tire Question

I need new tires to pass inspection and want to get the Bridgestone Battlax BT-45's

100/90-16 - Front

130/90-16 - Rear

The rear tire is available as the BT-45 Sport Touring and BT-45V in the size I need.

The front tire is available as the BT-45 Sport Touring only (in the size I need)

As far as I can tell the front tire is only available as an H rated tire (130 MPH) and the rear tire V rating is (149 MPH)

Is the speed rating the only difference between these two tires, and as the Ninja 250 is not capable of 130 MPH, is there any advantage? There is a price difference.

BT-45 Rear Tire

BT-45V Rear Tire

BT-45 Front Tire

Any insight, clarifications, or advice is greatly appreciated. I tried searching for a similar thread but had no luck.

Thank You

NEVERMIND.... I just answered my own question. The rear tire is only available in the size I need as a V rated tire.

H rated is perfect. V rated will work, but it costs extra for zero additional capability on this bike. The H rated may also be somewhat more compliant/better ride; as the higher the speed rating the stiffer the construction needs to be to prevent the tire from growing as much at high speeds.

I just ran into that same thing. nowhere I found has the H rated rear, so i had to get the V rated one at the premium cost. And of course i got them the day before the tire sale at motorcycle superstore started

I'm loving the tires though, had them fresh for my track day and they were a bit "squishy" under hard braking the first two laps but were broken in before I was and were flawless after that.

Oh, and ditto to what alex said.

Thanks for the info guys. Yeah I didn't realize that the rear was only available as V rated.

The battlax seems like a nice all around tire.

I can't wait to get some new rubber on my bike!!

For whatever reason you can't get the 130/90-16 rear tire with the H rating. I'm currently running BT-45's and have been really happy with them. Great grip in all conditions cold, hot, dry, wet.

The rear is about to need replaced after 10k miles. The front is still lookin' good. I've had none of the problems that some people have had with them.

Yeah, maybe I've been lucky. I'm gonna replace the rear with an Avon just to change it up. The price has went up since I got my set. I paid $170 for mine.

No need to modify the front fender. That's only for a 110/90-16 tire, such as the Dunlop GT-501.

so you saying all 100/90=16 tires will fit without moving the fender higher--that would be great

Yes, they should fit with no modification. This will also make your speedo more accurate, since the taller tire travels farther for each revolution.
