Cage guilt?

Anyone else feel guilty on days when you choose to drive over ride?

This past week there has been a threat of rain during my commutes, so I've taken to my cage, a 2009 WRX. The car is a blast to drive, Problem is, my commute right now is all city, so I get really crappy mileage in the car (16 mpg). It's also not too much fun to drive a car that goes 0-60 in 5.4 seconds when you can only drive 30, and hit a light every 1/4 mile or less. The bike still averages over 50 mpg and is always a blast to ride. So not only does traffic suck (I occasionally filter at lights on the bike), but the gas bill sucks.

I've found myself feeling guilty throughout the day when I drive. I constantly watch the weather and get down on myself for not riding when the rain doesn't actually come.

I love the car, and need it basically, because I'm addicted to deep powder snowboarding, but I can't help but think that I need to get more used to riding in the rain and completely ditch the car in the warmer weather. Heavy thunderstorms hold me back though, riding in hail and high winds doesn't sound fun.

After a 6 hour ride to north carolina in heavy thunderstorms (both ways). I didn't hesitate to take my truck for a few days.

Guilty if I drive the giant truck.
My partner drives further for work so when the weather sucks I let her take my car and I take the truck. 1996 Dodge Ram 1500.. like 12 mph. Sucks!!!

Ive been driving the past 2 months because we have had no rain in that time and constant triple digit heat everyday. Its 93 now but I think I'll still drive today..... spoiled by the AC now. My car (05 cav) gets the same mpg as my zx and doesn't lag too far behind my 250.

I drive when I feel it isn't safe to ride the bike, so no, I never feel bad about driving my cage, because it's for a good reason! Example, my 6000 mile service just came up and I need new tires as mine are twelve years old and the back is completely shot now. So I won't be riding until I've got my new pair mounted. Kinda hard to ride when the shop has your wheels anyways. The bike is starting kinda cranky too, so I'm sure I need to check my valve clearances. I'd also like to grease a lot of points/bearings too.

I really just get bored. And I forget all the conveniences of my car the few times a take it anyways. Always driving without the music or a/c on for at least 10 mins till I remember I have those.

Similar to the OP, my car is faster than the Ninja and while I still enjoy driving it when needed, I find myself wishing I couldve taken the bike. Wearing gear can be prohibitive though, and I don't always want to be carrying my helmet/etc around.

So depending on where I'm going, what I'll be doing there, and the weather....I decide between the car & bike.

yes, today it said rain rain rain..yet not a cloud in the sky yet. Brought the car to be safe but now i'm like ughhhh gas hog!

i was supposed to be making a 70 mile ride up to my friends place this weekend through some very twisty roads but now i have to take the car because of the "severe storms."

As far as forgetting the stereo and everything, I do the same. I used to never drive without music BLASTING, but now 90% of the time I drive without music and 10% will only have music on very low.

If I don't ride, due to rain, I do get upset at myself for not riding in when the rain never comes. Been caught in the rain 2-3 times anyway so far, but for short periods and not a heavy downpour... anyway I actually liked it, minus not being able to see out helmet.

I just hate driving cars. They're terrible.

You can't see anything, it's uncomfortable, and feels totally unnatural. Every time I get behind the wheel it puts a frown on my face.
