One Piece suit

No, not swimming apparel for the significant other... Leather race suit.

So, I walk in to my local Cycle Gear just to try on suits as they have them in stock. The ONLY suit they had within 5 sizes of me happened to be the one I thought would fit. And I was right! Mostly...

Alpinestars Motegi in size 48 Euro sizing (yes, I'm a little guy) Fit was near perfect, only being slightly tight in the forearms and biceps, more snug than strangling.

Only issue... I couldn't zip the leg bottoms. At all. Too many years on a bicycle doing 60-80 miles a day 6 days a week have apparently gifted me with monstrous T-Rex calves. They are seriously a full 2 inches too big for the suit.

So, the question is this: is there an off the shelf suit with more loose fitting calves? Or am I looking at a custom suit? If so, is there anywhere I can get one in the under $900 range?

Even though it's a less than spectacular brand, my old Frank Thomas XTI 1 piece had huge knee and calf area. I aint saying to go get one of them, I am saying that some manufactures do cut them that way off in off the shelf sizes.

Good luck in your search.

If you do go custom, you're lucky. You're a 2:47 drive from Pilot Leathers, which is reputed to be one of the better custom shops.

Also... cut varies within brands. The Motegi might not fit you but a different A* suit might. The only real way is to try as many on as you can. When I bought my suit I drove to Philly and visited the Revzilla retail store. Glad I did... wound up buying a different suit than I had in mind. Saved me a lot of hassle.

seconded on the frank thomas having more room for calf muscles. Though the knee area feels like sandpaper while riding (feels much better than sandpaper while sliding though)

Dainese have 2 zippers in the lower leg to allow for their boots that go in the suit. This could also work for your Godzilla calves.

I second Max's comment above....having the dual zippers should allow you to fit the suit over your calves.

Rev'it suits also have the same option. I LOVE their new Replica suit: http://www.mototude.com/REV-IT-Repli...t-p/fol021.htm

may have to look at a two piece suit where the pants maybe more straight legged than the one piece. Also take a look at the pants the flat track pros wear. Straight legged and I have no doubt that they would fit.
