depends... i see you are in florida so you might want to consider a springer front end. if you like going fast, forks are pretty good. swingarms look great in front. i especially like the BMW style telelever arm. looks so sexy and is probably one of the higher performing frontend setups. might have a hard time mounting it on the little ninja 250 though!

Suspension

Trying to built a race bike for the 250 class.. so no forks modification !!just internals I'm 5 '7 and weight about 165
I went with a rpm 2 way shock for the rear but I don't have any idea for the front

the fast guys here run springs with preload adjuster caps, and emulators for damping valving. ohlins (and some other italian and chinese rip-offs) make full cartridge drop ins with external damping and preload control (on the fork caps so no external modification means it passes most supersport rules) those cost about $800 but are going to give you the best superstock racing suspension on the market

These require removal of the damper rod but some class rules say you must use the original damper rods(modified or unmodified).

Fork oil, new springs, emulators and preload adjusters... Please chip in if I missed something... If you don't want good valves you get some big piston something's which do the same work... I forget who makes them...

Ah the great front fork set up debate. I think you can ask 5 fast guys this question and get 5 completely different answers. I've been doing this long enough to set up my forks quick and easy and be pretty comfortable with the results right out of the box. And not spending a whole bunch of money in doing so. It's not that I won't spend the money on the gold valves or cartridges, it's more a case of what I'm familiar with. The fact is whatever you decide to use you will need to take some time to tune them to your liking, so take your pick.

The only 'must have' is springs which are matched to your weight. Exact level of stiffness is somewhat debatable, but for anybody bigger than Danny Pedrosa (which includes most humans), the stockers don't cut it. If you get the preload right with the correct spacer right out of the box, you don't actually need adjusters, but they don't hurt to help give yourself some leeway for 'cheeseburger' events.

That said, valving and oil is an art approaching witchcraft. I don't claim to know any more about it than this: I put 10-weight oil in with my new springs, and it's 'good enough for government work'. I know I've got riding technique improvements to make before the damping being 99% right instead of 90% right will make any difference in lap times.

Go to Racetech and use their spring rate calculator for the bike. That will tell you the springs you need. You can buy them there or go with Sonic Springs for slightly cheaper.

I went with Gold Valve Emulators and like them. Dean (dino74) helped me install them along with doing the mods needed on the damper rod.

It all depends on your budget. Other than springs to match your weight, you can easily get away with just a different fork oil weight or go ballz out as mentioned above.

If you're not mechanically inclined, send to someone who will do it for you. Tige from Cyclemall is a good person to take them to also. (as mentioned above)
