MD South?

I need to get out for a ride. I haven't been on one since the season started. With everything going on there just wasn't a chance. So I am thinking this Saturday of going for a ride.

I have been up North into PA but I haven't been South much, certainly not into VA.

I don't have a lot of time as I have some evening plans (most likely around 4 I'll be heading into PA (another reason to go south) for a Phil's-work-related-bbq dinner) I am game for waking up early though.

Any suggestions from 'down there'? Sam? Kim?

Well, I think you should come down my way, but 5 hrs will be a bit much. Nick and Sam are further north and can probably give you better ideas

Look at waynesboro on google maps... That's about 2.5 hrs north of me and the start of the parkway which is beautiful riding.

Since my dad is in Richmond, he suggested taking a bit of a loop down the BRP to Buena Vista, and then we could grab a bite to eat at the Hardee's in town or something - it's also convenient to the interstate. If we can make this work, hubby would be playing tail with the WRX and trailer, as I don't want to ride up I-81 on the bike from here - yikes!

This is what I was maybe thinking:

If we're looking at another weekend, perhaps we could try for a mid-atlantic rally and do an over-night camping trip? With more time, I can definitely come up with a stronger route - these are the roads my daddy rides every weekend that he can

There are also two campgrounds on that loop that I went to at least once every summer with him for our motorcycle-camping trips
my favorite is Sherando Lake - instead of beach week when I graduated high school, some of my friends and I went camping there!

I have no camping gear what-so-ever... And it would be just me by my lonesome. Phil is saving his money for scuba trips.

I have plans on 8/8 (wedding I am attending) and then 8/21-23 I am in Ocean city...

Next weekend. That may work. Leme double check with Mr. Budget to make sure I can afford it.

Though again I do not have any camping gear and even if I did have no place to put it

SQUEAL!!!!! I am so excited!!!! YAHOO!!!! I think on the map I picked the afton mountain overlook on the blue ridge parkway - it's pretty and right at the start of the parkway Do you want to shoot for a little bit later? We should make sure the other VA members know about it in case they want to join

It was so great seeing you today Sunny! I had a blast I'm sorry if I slowed you down too much on rt 60, but my dad said you did great on the other part of 60! I hope you stayed dry on the way home - we sure didn't.... when the road becomes a river, it kind of sucks!

I... am alive... Just can't feel my thighs... ><'

It was realllly great meeting you, your family, and Paul!

Your dad was great! took me allllll the way to 29! It was very nice of him. I hope I didn't slow him down! btw there is a reason why I say, and stick to, ride your own ride. Do not apologize. If it bothered me that much I would have asked to go ahead.

No rain but you know that traffic you spoke of :: glare :: Yeah that... Put an hour onto my ride home. My BUM is NUMB! I seriously can't feel it.

Plugging Zumo in to see my miles

Beat my prior record of 454 with.... drum roll please.... 511 miles!

Now I need a bath..

we took showers as soon as we got home too! I think I'm still a bit numb - I couldn't have done it with the stocker! And volleyball shorts + soaked textile riding pants = sever chaffing - yuck!

oh and if you or Paul are interested, here is the video of Chris's oops that he was telling us about

Heck, I'm just glad I was able to keep up with my dad as well as I did on 60, even if Chris did ride off and leave us

Very glad to have joined you both today and met you Sunny! I had a phenomenal time today, impromptu shower included. Long as I've lived in VA that's the first time I've made it out to the BRP, glad I finally did.

Despite the downpour on the way back, somehow all the gear in my front pockets was dry. I'm sure there's volumes more I'd love to say about today, but it's way past bedtime. G'nite ya'll!
