typically, comprehensive deductible is separate and lower than collision deductible.
Regardless $50 is really low, but then again i'm not sure I ever looked at my bike insurance comprehensive deductible though I know my car ones are always around $250

Yeah, my comprehensive (vandalism, theft, fire, flood, earthquake, some-idiot-backed-into-it-in-the-lot, etc) deductible is fifty and it's separate from the big collision/property/bodily damage ones. We should have a thread on what everyone's age/area/record/insurance premiums are, I bet that'd be interesting!

"Carbon steel bolts are an excellent idea for vehicle out in the elements!" - whoever installed headlight brackets
(managed to somehow break pass button functionality doing this) Not much of an update, but I had to do something with the bike this week or lose my sanity. I'm getting so ****ing antsy waiting for winter to be over. Need one good warm + dry day to remove the front wheel and do the annoying speedo bullshit (need to get the bracket made for that, too, hmu if you can help me with that). The whole gauge/headlight area on my bike is really woeful looking. Not many options for people who can't fabricate their own brackets for flyscreens or whatever. Whine whine whine.

Ugh, really? From the factory? I think these came with the horrible """"""cafe racer"""""" ebay headlight brackets (which I also don't like, but there's really no replacements).

Yeah from factory, I'm not looking forward to the trip(s) to the hardware store that I'll be doing this spring to replace all of them with better bolts. They did last two winters though, and will probably last longer if I leave them on.

to be fair, basically every fastener on the outside of that bike and every other bike are all carbon steel at or around the eutectoid point. they just have a coating on the bolts that live outside. typically zinc or on cheaper fasteners they use whats called black oxide which is a form of rust that doesn't quite look like rust.

Oh also, I'm thinking about like my first ever legit cosmetic upgrade down the line - see through clutch cover! Seeing inside working fiddly bits is ballin

Cool, good to know. I like that you can get replaceable pucks for if/when they are put to use. Those also look better than the Shogun sliders I was looking at. And I know Woodcraft is a great brand. I had their clipons on my ninja 250. They were great quality.

All we can get in the U.S. is the Gladius-ish model, which they renamed the SFV650.
Other parts of the world get the original SV650S with ABS - which I think they now call the SV650SA. I have 2 of them, and still can't keep it straight... |

Ain't none of this fancy **** up in here, hoss, this a good ol fashioned SV thread.
I sat on the gladius at the IMS, it felt a little bit less huge than the SV to me. Don't really like all those extraneous plastic bits (like rad covers) that all naked bikes have nowadays though.

Freezing rain all yesterday. Cover was literally frozen solid. Just walking to the bike was ridiculously treacherous - at least half a cm of pure ice on everything.
50 this weds, snowing the next day, freezing the day after, 55 on sunday. That's cool, mid atlantic region, no problem, you do you. Meanwhile, finally outfitted my helmet for the new season. This thread is basically my blog now while I wait for winter to be fully over

I would get my ass kicked by cops every single time if I rode with a plate like that here. They're really vicious in VA. That's why I swapped the original plate holder, it was one of those that was parallel with the undertail so it was barely visible.

I can't afford to rent/buy a house with a garage. Over here that would also mean living way out in the boonies. I'm gonna be living in apartment complexes for a loooong time.

I hear you there.. My statement wasn't a call on your judgement, but more one of disbelief in the differences between our locations! If I did that in an apartment with a public lot here, it likely wouldn't last a week! Memphis makes you paranoid..

No I completely understand! Actually, the apartment I lived in before this one was in a really sketchy area with a LOT of vehicle/personal property thefts. I only lived there for 8 months, and the bike was only on that lot for 5 of them, but yeah I get that feeling 100%. My current place is actually in a pretty safe little neighborhood, so a bit less worry there!
Mostly I want a garage so I can work on the bike in peace. That would be so incredibly nice. All those tools I'd be able to have... drill press... maybe a wee little tig welder... a girl can dream

Forget drill presses, get a bridgeport. Much more useful and can drill holes also.
