Directional tires; reverse tread patterns?
With directional tires (like the Rosso 2s), have you guys ever noticed that the tread pattern is reversed in the front? With this reverse tread, it looks like water will be channeled to the center of the front tire?
Any idea why they do that? Perhaps when leaning over, water will be pushed to the outside of the corner? But if that's the case, with the "correct" tread in the rear, water would be pushed to the inside of the corner??? I'm just confused. |

you want the water to go away from the center, so as the tire rolls forward, the water is going sideways. If the tread pointed the other way, it would be pushed into the center, not away

Even the michelin street pilots have the same pattern with both front and rear opposed, i thought i screwed up when i mounted mine but the direction is correct from the factory. If the manufacturer had made the direction the way it is, than i feel they know what is best as they have had many years of testing under their belt to know which way would be best way to mount them.

I just ordered the pilot streets. The only thing weird about them is they don't have that red (sometimes yellow) dot that tells you where to line up to the valve stem.
