[motorcycle.com] - 2016 Suzuki GSF1250 and GSX1250 Certified by CARB

The California Air Resources Board released a new executive order certifying the Suzuki GSF1250 and GSX1250 for the 2016 model year. The GSF1250 will likely be the partially-faired Suzuki Bandit 1250S revealed at Intermot last fall. The GSX version will likely be fully-faired version resembling the GSX1250F last available on these shores in the 2012 model year.

According to the executive order, the GSF1250 and GSX1250 will be powered by a 1255cc Inline-Four. The emission testing data is identical to those of the 2012 GSX1250F, so the engine has likely received few changes since then. Suzuki claims the engine produces 96.6 hp at 7500 rpm and 79.7 lb-ft. at 3700 rpm.

The Bandit received an updated fairing at Intermot, covering the sides of the radiator and leaving a vent under the headlight. At its launch, Suzuki claimed the new fairing design improved aerodynamics and wind protection.

The suspension system is comprised of a telescopic fork and a rear monoshock with adjustable spring preload and rebound damping. The front wheel uses twin 310mm brake discs with four-piston calipers while a single-piston caliper grips the 240mm disc at the rear. The European Bandit S comes standard with ABS but that doesn’t mean the same will apply to the North American version.

Though it hasn’t been sold in the U.S. for a few years, the GSX1250F (pictured above) is still available in other markets for 2015. The newly-certified model drops the F which may suggest an update, possibly to match the styling update introduced to the Bandit.
