BMW to Host 17th Annual Motorrad Days

BMW Motorrad just*announced the schedule for its 17th annual Motorrad Days festival in held in the Bavarian city of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, July 7–9. Admission is free for all, and the festivities include live music, stunt shows, bench racing, and, of course, copious amounts of beer.

The festival*hosts*a diverse gathering of riders from throughout the motorcycling community including custom bike builders, racers, touring riders, and enduro fans. Among the celebrities scheduled are actors Hannes Jaenicke and Daniel Roesner and singer/songwriter Wincent Weiss.

The motorsports entertainment roster includes a drift show with Ritzmann Motorsport testing the limits of lateral acceleration, and the popular Wall-of-Death ride with vintage motorcycles in the original Motodrome. The WoD show features four BMW R25s on the wall at the same time, a world first. In addition, freestyle stunt riders Mattie Griffin and Sarah Lezito*are scheduled to*display their amazing talents in the stunt show.

A wide selection of current BMW motorcycle models will be available for test rides in the mountains once again this year. Registration is recommended at: www.bmw-motorrad.com/motorraddays The Zugspitz region around Garmisch, one of the most scenic regions in Germany, can be explored in full or half-day tours as well as tours with local guides.

The Enduro Track at the foot of the Hausberg will offer challenging riding both for newcomers and ambitious enduro enthusiasts. Off-road fans can explore what a BMW GS-bike can really do off the beaten track – under professional guidance. Experienced instructors will demonstrate how much fun off-road riding can be. And this year’s riding competition will let riders face off with Supermoto world champion Bernd Hiemer.

For the more technically minded visitor, BMW developers, engineers, and test riders*will be on hand to explain how the company's*development department works. Plus, motorcycle legends such as Michael Martin, Rolf Lange, Christoph Köhler of MotorCircus and Lei Jona will speak in the US Lodge.
