Anybody try to lower the mirrors?

I always have had a problem seeing behind me with the mirrors, the side are fine. This week I was following my friend's BMW dual sport and notice I could see his side mirrors under his arms. I was wondering if anybody tried to lower the mirror arms so you can see under your arms but behind you? Not sure how this would work out and if you would just be looking at the road behind you instead of other vehicles. Anybody have any thoughts about this and how it would be done?

I have the mirror extenders from here'

So far I have been fairly happy with them, I still see some of my elbow but not as much. But they are kinda pricy.

Same, they made a difference, I see a lot less of myself, and yes, they are expensive...

The mirrors work fine when you are tucked

I got a set of ZX10R mirrors and added blind spot mirrors to them. Seems to work fine.

I have my stock mirrors set so I just see part of my elbow at the inside edge of the mirror. That gives me maximum visibility to the sides and all I have to do is lift my arm away from my side and I can see what ever is behind me. Of course another rider on your six is lost no matter what you do.

It took me awhile to get them set the way I liked it but the price was right
